2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Logo

I bought a 2004 Lancer Mitsubishi brand new. Soon after the purchase I had trouble moving the heater knob (climate control temperature control) and, broke it. It has not worked since I purchased it. I tried to buy the knob; however, I was informed that I had to buy the entire panel which costs over $200.00. I have been surviving without the heater since I purchased it. Is there a way I can fix the knob without having to purchase the whole dash panel?

I bought a used 2004 mitsubishi lancer ls sportback with the same problem. a google search told me this was a known defect and was covered under a dealer recall--no cost to me. my local dealer did the job. it took at least a half day--the entire dash, they said, had to be removed. the fix isn't perfect, but it is light years above and beyond what it was b4. the new knobs aren't silky smooth, but the old ones needed tools to turn!

Should 2004 Cavalier's climate control knobs & power window buttons light up. ? I'd like to replace the bulb or fuse if its possible

The bulbs in the control head for the heater/ac are nor serviced by GM but I think you can purchase them at radio shack if you can get the head out and apart I am pretty sure you can replace them.

I need to manually change my heater over to air condition. 2004 Lancer LS

There should be a blend door behind the dash that directs air thru the heater core and evaporator core.
Look at Youtube for "lancer blend door" for a video on the repair.

Heat not working

Try locating the heater hoses. Start with the vehicle cool and turn it on and wait till the engine temperature reaches the correct temperature. This should send fluid through the heater hoses. Feel the heater hoses for a change in temperature. If there is no change in heat after a while the problem is in your thermostat. If one heater hose is hot while the other is not than the problem is in the heater block. If both hoses are heating up then the problem is probably in the climate control knobs or wiring that controls the blend doors or may even be the blend doors are broke and are not opening correctly to allow heat into the vents. This could also be a problem if the ac does not get cool either.

My climate control knob that turns from cold to hot is broken. Can that be fixed and if so, How can I fix it/

The best way to fix this is to order a new knob from the Mitsubishi dealer near you. They are usually less than $10 and easy to pull off and install. Have your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) handy when you call to ensure you get the correct part. Tell the parts person you have the VIN and he'll be able to get you the part you need.

AC/Heater control valve :Lancer 2003 Misubishi

The sliding switch on the console is stuck in the cold position and the knob is pulled off. Use pliers to jiggle the switch as best you can. Feel under the center console and you probably will find the cable that is hooked up to the flapper. You'll know because when you jiggle the cold/heater switch at the upper console, the cable will move slightly. At the hookup of the cable to the flapper down under the console (passenger side) try to work the flapper loose to the open (or close) position. At the same time work the sliding switch (with pliers). The flapper will come loose and function properly. Try not to knock of the AC button like I did in the process. It flew off some where under the passenger seat. I'll find it sometime before summer. Ha.

buy some lithium grease in a pressure can $8 "never can have too much lube" there is a plastic epoxy 2 stage in a syringe that works well for plastic repairs $8. alternativly get a second hand one from a dismantler. Use pliers to turn the knob back and forth untill you can move it freely before fitting the knob. Spray the flap lever it is operating on the heater box too. Good luck

Condensation inside car (Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 Equippe 4dr)

You might want to check to see if your heater core, which is located under the dash and inside the car, is not leaking. Look to see if you have a wet rug on the passenger side. If it is not leaking then try turning you vent knob to outside air and not recirculating.
