Question about Seagate 20GB TRAVAN SCSI 5 1/4 TPE DRIVE HORNET (STT320000N) Travan Tape Drive

1 Answer

Installed identical replacement STT320000A but won't recognize tape

My old Hornet STT320000A died & I purchased a replacement on ebay (used). It will rewind a tape when inserted and Windows recognizes the drive, but I can't get my backup program to recognize the media. I'm using NovaBackup ver 7.3. It sees the drive but not the tape. Any suggestions?

The STT320000A is IBM version? some IBM version STT320000A will rewind the tape when inserted. But It can recognize the media after rewind. If can't, try to used the cleaning cartridge or change one new media. regards

you must see if the wires and break , use the continuity tester VOM, for repair or replace the wires. However you must tight the wires or clean from oxide, or corrosion and try again.
If you can NOT fix it. Go to the repair shop.
God bless you

Poweredge 700 will not recognized memory

Unless only one 256-MB memory module is installed, the modules must be installed in identical pairs. If you want 512MB total, you will need to populate by using two identical 256MB modules or use the same technique for larger memory sticks. That model supports up to 4GB ram of the following type;

I have an old Princeton VL 173 that I had been using with an old computer running Windows XP Pro. It works fine. Got a computer with an Asus MB and a Intel Core 2 Quad running Windows 7 Home Premium...

It sounds like a driver/software issue. When you ran the Princeton VL173 on XP you probably had all the correct software for your video card and the correct drivers to support your video output. When you changes OS to Windows 7, the XP drivers are no longer in place. My best guess is that you need to find and install the correct drivers for your system video and for your video card that are Windows 7 compatible. The old XP drivers will not work in Windows 7.

I am running XP with a Princeton VL173. It works great. I identified the correct video drivers for my system and installed them. My video card is nVidia 8800GT. I downloaded and installed the latest software from nVidia and installed it. It runs like a champ.

Several months ago my display died. It was just blank -- black. I tried using a power supply (AC adapter) from an old HP printer that died, and it worked! The plugs were identical, and the power output profiles were very nearly identical. It has been rinnung great for many months now.

I hope this helps.

Windows wont recognize drive

ok this can happen if
1. you have two drives and you have not set the jumper to slave on this one
2 you are only using this drive and its not set to master
the jumpers are have a plastic face that needs to be covered over
the manual will usually explain this further
