With the arm up in the ice tray, the water solenoid valve should be closed. When the arm drops, that tells the ice maker to open the water solenoid valve to fill the ice maker tray. It sound like the leak is at the inlet side of the water solenoid valve. On some models its not easy to get to, but follow the water line to it. Hope this is it for you. Good luck.
There is a dual solenoid water valve. One solenoid controls the water dispensor the other is for the ice maker. If its under warranty you should definitely have it looked at.
Check your connection at the bottom of the freezer door, behind the kick plate. Also pull out your crisper drawers and check the cold water reservior. If this only leaks when the water dispenser is pressed I would try to track the line from the bottom of the freezer door back to where it goes into the refrigerator (behind the crispers) to the cold water reservior.
If you absolutely have to lay this fridge down lay it on it's BACK only. Also be sure to let it stand upright for at least a half an hour before you start it back up.
Good luck with this!!
you may have a pin hole in your water line to your dispenser or you could be leaking at the water valve itself on the water dispenser side. you'll have to pull the refrigerator out from the wall and look where the main water line goes into the back of the refrigerator. you will probably have to take the back off to see. be sure you put the back of the refrigerator back when you are through.
do you live in an area where there are rodents such as mice ? if yes there is a possibility that they have eaten the plastic water line that feeds from the ice maker water valve to the ice maker itself . when they get thirsty you would be surprised what they will actually chew through to get water. regardless the cause, you probably have a broken water line between the ice maker water valve and ice maker unit .
Pull the fridge out and remove the back panel . Have someone press the water dispensor and watch for the leak . Usually , the plastic line at the water valve breaks off , and removing the broken piece and reinserting the line , fixes it . You may have to remove the 1 screw holding the water valve on , to gain access to remove the broken piece of line . The water valve itself , could also have a hole in it , spraying , due to long period of water pressure . Just replace the water valve , if this is the problem .
I had this problem. Check you water line leading to your ice maker. the plastic section of it running up into the freezer cracks and leaks. easy fix, replace the tubing if it's leaking.
So the dispenser is getting water.
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then
try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell
you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.
If the valves clicks but water doesn't get to ice maker the fill tube can be stopped up with ice.The waterinlet valve on the back of the unit where the
water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and
block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to
see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill
tube.
