Multiple CD player RCA - close and error message

My RCA 5 CD player stopped playing CDs last night. It shows a message of CLOSE but I cannot despite several recycles get the unit to even open to retrieve the CDs. I disconnect the unit, shook out the CDs (all came out) and replugged the unit only to receive same message.

What can I do?

Is it worth taking it to get repaired vs. just getting a new unit?

I have the same problem.

Suggest a new solution for this problem
