That "Internet Lock" software must be installed on EVERY computer in your network.
Also, the web-page referenced contains a "crack", i.e., this is *COMMERCIAL* software that requires the user to pay a license-fee for each copy used. The "crack" bypasses that protection, and exposes your employer to an EXPENSIVE law-suit if you "steal" the software, and don't pay the required fee per copy. Using "cracked" software could get you FIRED by your employer. Polish your resume' !!!

Look under "Advanced" and "Filtering".

Add filtering for the IP-addresses that Facebook uses:

Name: facebook.com
Addresses: 69.63.189.11, 69.63.189.16, 69.63.181.12
by routing all "incoming" TCP/IP traffic to an inactive "private" IP-address inside your network.

Or, for extra credit, route all that traffic to the private IP-address of the boss' computer, so that he/she can use it, while the employees cannot. :-)

There is no "filtering" option under advanced and the router has the latest firmware

  • Anonymous Feb 08, 2011

There is no menu entry called "Filtering" under "Advanced" in the router. Think this got posted under the wrong model number, it's the 3347WG.

  • Anonymous Feb 17, 2011

    Given your model, see:http://www.netopia.com/support/hardware/...

and add a "static route" that will deliberately "mis-route" TCP-packets from the IP-addresses used by Facebook, i.e., so that the responses from Facebook's web-server never reach the employee's computer.

Block https facebook linksys

Depends on the model router you have.
Generally connect either wired or wireless. Open a internet browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. A log in for your router may appear and ask for a user name and password. The default for Linksys is user = blank (nothing) and password = admin. If the default has been changed you'll need the user name and password to access the configuration menu.
Then look for URL filter under the Advanced tab or Access Restrictions tab. Type the URL of the website you want to block in the blank. Some will allow you to edit the days of week or times it will not allow access. (ie you can block access M-F and allow on weekends.) Click on apply, submit or save and exit out of the menu.

Hi Wilson,
You can block Internet access by specifying MAC addresses of PCs you want blocked. The MAC address is the physical address of the network card in the PC.
Please page 54 for instructions on setting up this policy.

To locate the mac address of a PC.

Type in ipconfig/all in the Command Prompt Windows. Review the output.

The simplest way to report an abuse or violation or etc..etc.. to a user on facebook is as follow, first login to your account, locate the user you want to file a complain, now on his/her profile page, scroll down to the bottom, there you'll see a link "Report/Block this person" [in your case, visit your boy's profile], once you click the "Report/Block this person" you'll see a small window with several options (show below):

Once the small window is opened up, click "Fake Profile" and select the suitable option and type in the description (you'll get the space to type in the description once the appropriate option is selected.). Click "Submit" when you are done. Facebook will handle the case and will be deleted if necessary, but it's likely that they may also contact you, so be sure to check your emails.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Dear aggy2k :

VPN
A VPN lets you access Facebook from a normal internet connection. It’s a little bit of software that you install on your computer and then run after you connect to the internet. It sends all of your internet information through a different computer (located in the US or UK for example)… Try www.witopia.net for more information!
- Proxy
A less elegant option, but just as useful, is to use a web based proxy. There are many of these available, one of the best is ’sneak me’ (www.sneakme.net). You input the web address that you want to access and then click on ‘OK’ and you can go straight to the site you need.
- Business firewall bandwidth
Some businesses buy bandwidth directly from Chinese telecommunications companies, so multinationals for example can have full access to the Internet without any interruption.

Good luck
