Try this option also here's a reset hole by the side of the player. Try reseting it.

It can locked sometimes, and fix itself after a while. no apparent reason. reset, run the battery down and recharge.

    Hope it helps.

this is from the creative site:

The recovery mode consists of these four operations.

    * Clean Up: It is the least destructive operation. It scans a player's
hard disk and removes any invalid links from the music library. It does
not affect music files themselves. It is recommended that you perform
"Clean Up" first before formatting or reloading the player's firmware.

It is recommended that you clean up regularly if you frequently transfer files between a PC and your player.

    * Format All: It is the same as a Windows format performed in a PC, and
consequently all contents will be lost after a format.
    * Reload Firmware: Reloads the player's firmware (Operating System). It will also format the player.

Note : It requires the player be connected to a PC that meets the
player's minimum system requirement. Select this option ONLY if you
have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to
    install.
    * Reboot: Reboots the player. You can reboot the player
after performing a clean-up or format, or reboot it without performing
    neither of them.

It is recommended that you try these operations
    in the following sequence: reboot the player; clean up and reboot;
format and reboot; and finally, reload the player's firmware.

    If
your player seems to stuck in the recovery (rescue) mode, you can try
the "reboot" operation first, and format the player if necessary. If it
fails to reboot, you will need to connect the player to a PC, and
reinstall its firmware. For a detailed instructions on how to install a
player's firmware, please refer to Updating the firmware on a Creative
MP3 player, or refer to the Web Release note of the firmware download.

Unlike other hard disk based players, Zen Neeon does not have a rescue
mode. Though there is a Player Recovery Mode , it is for use when
    updating its firmware only.

    1. Detach your player from your PC , and ensure that it is turned off.

    2. Close all active applications (for example, Internet Explorer,
Windows Explorer, or Windows Media Player etc), as well as background
applications such as Norton anti-virus applications.
    3. Download
the latest device driver if you have not installed any drivers for your
player. The file name is MStorage_PCDRV_LB_1_07_00_250.exe.
    4. Double click on the file MStorage_PCDRV_LB_1_07_00_250 to install it. Follow the instructions on the screen.
    5. Hold down the Play/Pause button while connecting the player to a PC's USB port.
    6. When the Creative logo appears on its screen, release the Play/Pause button.

The player is now in Player Recovery Mode

    1) You do not have to remove any of the top nor the screen cover. The
screws under the top cover only hold on the plate. Simply remove the
other parts as shown and slide the whole "guts" out the bottom. The
screen cover breaks very easily at the top corners due to the adhesive
    and "pins" in the corners.

    2) When removing the bottom cover it is easier to start at the back
corners. The plastic has notches cut out at these corners so you can
get your screwdriver under it easier.

    3) Unreal-Parts is correct. Remove the keypad by depressing the 2 tabs
inside which clip the keyboard in place. Trying to slide the keyboard
    may damage the keyboard connector.

    4) When sliding the "guts" out be very careful not to scratch the
screen. The small metal support pieces above and below the keyboard are
easily bent and can scratch the screen very easily due to sharp edged
    and burrs.

    5) If replace the hard drive without disconnecting the battery (not reccomended) you MUST press the reset switch before you power the player back on. Evidently the player keeps the library in memory.

6)The battery is together with HDD,a button kind cell battery.

Hello,
Mp3 players are too fragile in their inner circuit and to handle..So i would rather advice you to take your Mp3 player for Service at any Service Store rather than trying anything by yourself..Thank you...

Regards!!...

Try first taking battery out as suggested. If it does not reset it may be a fault in the lock switch, as already suggested, try blowing canned air and spraying just a small amoun on contact cleaning solution on the switch. If it does not unlock the switch must be replaced.

How to update

Before updating the firmware, be sure to verify and complete the following procedures:

Back up all audio, video, image or data files stored in the player to a secure location before changing the firmware.

All contents in the player will be lost when you install a new firmware.

Close all active applications as well as all background applications, including all media players and anti-virus programs such Norton Anti-virus.

Disable the Detector application in Creative MediaSource.

To do so, start Creative MediaSource, click on Tools, Settings, and then Detector. Uncheck the box next to Enable Detector.

Close down MediaSource.

Ensure that the firmware download was saved into the hard drive of your PC, not the player itself. Otherwise, it will report an error message Unable to lock the drive.

Zen m wont turn on

Well, it needs to charge via USB on your computer, so plug in your zen into the computer with the creative usb cord, and let it recharge. It may not necessarily turn on if it's really out of battery, but you can tell its charging when the switch you use to turn on and off, and hold, the light is blinking. After sometime, your Zen screen on the upper righthand corner should show a little battery and be blinking green what stage it's at in its charging. When its done charging the battery icon with be fully green, not blinking, and have a little plug icon inside of the battery icon to indicate that it is fully charged--takes a couple of hours to charge.

If that does not work, check your USB cord to make sure it's not damaged in any way. If it is, you may need to purchase a new one for better connection. And if that doesn't work, then you might need to replace the battery altogether, which I'm sure, if you are still in your manufactuer's warranty, they can do for you. After it is replaced, your zen should be good as new and ready to operate.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

FROZEN DEAD!!

What size Zen Neeon do you have? The 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB models are Flash based and dropping them should do much damage unless you really smashed it up. However, the 5GB and 6GB models are hard drive based and dropping them from any height can be extremely damaging (especially if the hard drive was reading/writing when you dropped it). Basically, it's dependent on that to know how to continue with your issue.
