You can check the screen if it is defective by trying to use another screen or monitor. Try this and if the problem persists there is a problem with your video card. If not, the problem is in your monitor it might be that the fuse shorted or busted. Or it might be you that you forgot to adjust the screen brightness, or somebody did make a joke on you. If the problem still persists, my best advice is for you to have your computer checked by a qualified and competent technician for he has tools to determine the defect.
