If it is a heat problem, they shut down to prevent MB damage.
First thing to check is make sure your fans are working.

I use SIW to give all information in the pc including heat.

http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html

Download the standalone version and save to desktop, or there are other programs to monitior if you have a thermal error that's causing the shutdown.

Is your Anti Virus Up-To-Date? Will it update? Depending on the Brand of software(you didn't post), Anti Virus, that's installed. The windows Security Center may not recognize it. Open Security Center and change Notification of Anti Virus. First make sure it hasn't been compromised, if you are infected the infected file will shut down your Anti Virus. Use this freeware program to verify a clean system , MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install, UNCHECK the Trial Pro version, you want the freeware version, Run a FULL scan, delete ALL results, reboot. Depending on the size of your HDD, it may take hours. Post results and your Anti Virus Software Manufacturer.

Re: dell inspiron 1525 laptop shutdown.

There is a good possibility that you have some nasty malware or viruses. I will give you links below to programs that will clear out the problems....

At the end of this are three links to programs that you should load up and run. The first is MalwareBytes Ant-Malware Tool, another is Avast Anti-Virus 4.8, the third is Threatfire.
Run MalwareBytes first and perform a quick scan, when it finishes, it will ask you to show the results, click on “Show results, all infections will appear in red. Delete everything it finds.
Run Avast and install it, when it asks, go ahead and schedule a pre-boot scan of your entire system. This should get rid of most problems….Now, if you have Norton Anti-Virus, internet security or any of the others, they also be causing some of your problems. They will have to be removed and the only way to properly do that is go to the Norton site and download their Norton removal tool. Run this before installing any other kind of ant-virus. The Avast 4.8 is free to use, just register it once a year, that is all…it will update itself 2-4 times a day to keep its virus definitions constantly updated, you do not have to do anything, it is completely automated and has 7 real time scanners that run all the time.

When your boot time scan is over and you have either deleted or moved the infection to the chest as Avast recommends, now run Threatfire…it will ask you to let it update as will Malwarebytes, do so. Threatfire monitors every web page on the world wide web and lets you know if your tap dancing where you shouldn’t, it will throw a flag up and say abort connection…do so to save yourself from a bad situation. The links are below.

It seems you have been infected by a trojan. This virus infects all versions of WIndows OS: It is considered a Low Risk Virus, but it needs to be removed immediately.

Backdoor.Ranky.Z allows unauthorized access on the infected pc by opeing a backdoor port.

  • check "turn off system restore" uncheck "to turn on"
  • click Apply
  • click Yes when dialog box tell s you this will erase all restore points.
  • Press OK
2. Make sure your virus definitions are up to date.

3. Reboot your system in Safe Mode

4. Run a full/deep system scan & delete all infected files.

5. Delete/Modify any values added to theRegistry

how to edit registry

Delete this entry :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run \"Advanced DHTML Enable" = "[PATH OF TROJAN EXECUTABLE]"

6. Exit registry editor and restart your PC.

7. Run a Full scan to make sure it is really gone.

Little red shield keeps telling me I have a security problem

You have a Rouge Anti-Virus malware, this is a virus do not download it will make it worse, the idea is to take over your computer and force you to buy the antivirus program which is actually just a list of places to download free virus removal software, All is not lost, if you have Virus software do a scan now and try to find it, if not download AVG Free Anti-Virus and that will take care of it.These people are from Russia and once they get your credit card number they will try to empty your bank. Let me know if this helps and please rate this solution. lone99star

Laptop keeps turning off and DVD-CD-RW Rom won't work.

The turning off problem may be a memory problem, download and run a memory checker (memtest 1.7 or later) it may also be a virus problem
ensure your virus checker is up to date and run a full scan, these would be a first step to try and solve these issues.

good luck

Keeps shutting off

First thing that comes to mind is that it is overheating which causes the shutdown problem. When running the ant-virus the computer uses a lot of resources and it gets hot fast. When laptop is turned off, inspect all areas for dust build up around any openings. You can also remove the compartment lids and inspect those too. The best way to clean out dust is to use compressed air that comes in a can and q-tips. Blow the air into all the openings and use the q-tips to whip away dust build up. Once you think that it is clean, turn it on and make sure that the fans are running if your unit has them. While it is running, you can use a free on line scanner that uses less resources just in case it still overheats over time.

With sufficient cooling, your laptop should perform much better too.
