This could be a printer driver problem. Try to uninstall your existing Lexmark X4270 printer driver from your computer. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark 4200 Series > Tools > Uninstall. After the process, reboot pc when prompted.
Check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. Go to Start menu > right-click on Computer > Properties. Take note of the System Type.
Use the links below to re-install the printer driver on your computer:
- Lexmark X4270 Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 for 32-bit
- Lexmark X4270 Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 x64-bit
The issue is with the driver you are using for the 4200- I suspect if you visit support.hp.com, you would find the utility for windows 7 that would have the same function as in windows XP
Are you using Window 7 64 bit or 32 bit? Re-install drivers appropriate for that version of your operating system. Also look at the "Paper Handling" section in the printer menu. Be sure both trays are set for "Plain" paper.
As HP saya" A full feature software and driver package for Windows 7 is not available for your product. However, the Windows 7 operating system installed on your computer contains a basic driver solution for your product".
