APPLE iPod HiFi Speakers A1121

Can anyone tell me how to take one of these speaker units apart or direct me to a service manual for them.

Thanks

I am an electronics engineer. The unit is not operating correctly. With an iPod in the dock at the top no sound comes out when playing. However, when the + or - buttons are pressed on the top the green light on the rt front blinks, eventually going red after several pushes. This suggests to me that the unit is powered but something has gone wrong with the amplifier which I will attempt to fix once I get the !!!! thing apart.

I have cleaned the docking socket.

Forget other comments - the front is simply a glued-on black metal plate. No screws. No plugs. No obvious way in. If you use a screwdriver you can lever the 1mm thick black plate off the front of the unit to access the screws. Remove the middle speaker first & unclip from main housing. Take a good look & memorise the clip positions as there are lots and it's quite a job getting them all back again! Good luck. Great stereo.

APPLE iPod HiFi Speakers A1121 - 9aba6ca.jpg
Simply start by removeing all the screws visible, look around the unit, I have looked for a service manual and found service manuals, for pretty much everything else by appel except the speakers.

as a E.E. this shouldn't be that hard of a job for you. Im seeing possible screws in the front of the unit, start by removeing any rubber plugs from the holes if any.

I don't know how its build, inside, but it shouldn't be that hard to get open, well I do have quite alot of experience with takeing things apart.

Be carefull and proceed by removeing all screws that are visible, then attempt to open the interior up.

looking at the picture I would say there are atleast 4 screws in the front. possibly 5

On my unit the black front is glued to the white case. I pried it open by working around the tiny space between the two with a screw driver. Lots of scary noises as the glue was separated.

I have an Apple iPod accessory -- Model A1121-- that doesn't output any sound.

I can help you troubleshoot your A1121 iPOD docking station.

First of all, can you confirm that your iPOD is seating correctly and securely in the docking port?

For example, when the + or - buttons are pressed on the top, does the green light on the front blink, eventually going red after several pushes?
& Is there any indication that the unit is controlling your iPOD, but simply not outputting sound?

I touch loses suond in one speaker or in earbuds, is it the connection ? how do I fix it , can I take the itouch apart and check the connection ?

Hi there,

Do not open up the ipod yourself. This will void your warrenty instantly.

it sounds like a bad connection. Try your earphones on your computer. And try other earphones or speakers on your ipod. This way you can work out if it is a problem with the earphones or the ipod.

If it is the ipod, you will need to bring it in for service.

if you wish to return the ipod for service, you can find a local apple reseller by calling apple on 1-800-MY-APPLE

Or you can visit an apple retail store by visiting http://www.apple.com/retail/

Hope this helps.

Nathan.
