Re: error message on fridge "er ff"
Error code Er FF indicates that the evaporator fan has failed, or at least is not sending a signal to the electronic controls. Open the door and see if the evaporator fan is running inside the freezer compartment. If that fan stops, then no cold air will be sent to the refrigerator compartment and it will warm up. Possible causes include bad motor, bad connection, bad electronics.
I just had the exact same thing happen a few days ago. I dismantled the freezer section including the railings and all to get the back panel far enough out without disconnecting the wires to the fans and took a hair dryer to melt the huge ice build up at the top right and left corners behind the back panel. Everything kicked back in including the ice maker.
Hello I also have the same problem but Im A Electronic Engineer and took it to A higher level. First I removed the door then the rails. in the back there is A cover remove that next there are 2 conectors on the right side behind the cover. Once i did that I found 2 very larg blockes of ice. I hade to take A ice pick to them to break them down from what I found A blowdryer is only good for A very short time fix. You would have to shut down your unit and at least wait 3 days for it to melt and dry. you want it to dry all the way if you dont the ice will build up quicker and you will be back in the same situation. If you take it apart as I have I sugest to also open up the motors (there are 2) and dry them out. When I opened my motors I also found ice in them. Now I did this in about 2hrs I also used A air compressor so it wasent to bad.

Error ff (er ff) means defective fan detected. Before calling support or before replacing the fan try performing a complete defrost by leaving power disconnected for one day (remove food from inside the unit first). That will fix the problem if the fan was temporarily malfunctioning because of ice formation. If that does not work the fan must be tested before replacement.
Er FF is Error, Freezer Fan. The fan blade in the freezer is most likely blocked by some ice or frost. Clear that and the control will see the feedback from the fan showing that the motor is turning and the code will clear.
for using FixYa. Error ff is freezer fan fault. This usually happens when
either the rear board has gone bad or the freezer fan itself is bad and needs
to be replaced. To check what is causing the error you can start with checking
the fan which is located behind the back wall inside the freezer. Also check
the rear board as it might not be putting the fridge into defrost long enough
and is causing the ice to build up in the freezer and thus stopping the freezer
fan from turning and so causing ff error. Leave the fridge unplugged for 24hrs
which will melt all the ice then plug it back if still the issue is not
resolved and you hear the fan running then it is the rear board that needs to
be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else
revert for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
This is an error code that pertains to the evaporator motor but could also be the main board. If the evaporator motor is running, the main board will probably need to be replaced. It could be a wiring problem but it's not very likely.
If the motor is not running, some voltage checks will need to be made, at the motor and board, to determine which component has failed. These checks require a meter and can be difficult to make, even for a technician.

FF usually means the freezer fan is not working. If the fridge is cooling poorly, check to see if the fan inside is running while the compressor is running. If not, and if there's no ice jamming it, then you need a new evaporator fan. If the fridge is cooling normally and the only symptom is the error code, then it could be a problem in the electronic control.
You said, your Kenmore Elite Trio, model 795.7756 or 7757 has an error message
simply reading ER IF. No pressing of buttons, or combination thereof
changes anything. Also, the ice maker has stopped working although it
is turned on. Can anyone help? I cannot pull the refrigerator out to unplug and reboot it, thus I don't know what to do.
Try tripping the breaker off for 5 minutes and then see if this method resets the system? Do not turn it back on for at least tree minutes. That's why I said, Five!!!
Lets see how it resets while I look your fridge up. Write back. Huuum 7:11 pm eastern standard time . I'm here!
ER FF - found in another post = Error Freezer Fan. Removed freezer back panel (inside freezer), defrosted ice build up around fan. Error message gone for now. Easy fix at midnight - 20 minutes. Will be looking into ice-up cause.
