My light tunnel and color wheel have also gone. Now when I turn on the projector, I can hear it start up but it doesn't power up enough to start the lamp. Does anyone know why it won't power all the way on? I can hear it trying to power all the way up but I just hear it spin the beep then start to spin (then it's suppose to kick in and the lamp come on) It doesn't. Could that be because the color wheel is bad? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I recently had my lamp go out for the Infocus SP 4805 projector. When I replaced the lamp, the projection/imapges had discoloration in a couple of spots on the screen. not completely black, but discolored....

If you have not already found out, your problem may be a Light Tunnel Failure. It is common and can be corrected DIY. Replacement part is nearly non-existent and manufacturer repair is expensive.
For additional info go to www.avsforum.com and search for "4805 Light Tunnel". You will find threads about the problem as well as fixes. I also posted a DIY replacement option as well:

Need help looking for the part.

Hi:

Seems you broke the part called the color wheel assembly. Usually the color wheel can be replaced by you or a qualified TV servicer.

InFocus 4805 - right 1/3 is fine, middle 1/3 dim, left very dim.

the light tunnel is collapsing and needs replacement. the part itself is relatively inexpensive, but you have to be careful if you want to replace it yourself. it's under the colorwheel, which is delicate. when you remove the top, front, and rear panels, remove the colorwheel (which is between the lens and the lamp) and carefully set it aside. there are 2 screws holding the light tunnel bracket in place. remove them and the bracket. pull out the pieces of the tunnel (little rectangles of mirror) and replace with a new one. reverse the steps to put it back together. by the way, you can get the part from any infocus authorized service center (check the infocus website for the one closest to you). part # 306-0095-01

Dark side of screen

the light tunnel has collapsed and needs replacing. the part is inexpensive and relatively easy to replace. if you can get the part from infocus or an authorized service center (part # 306-0095-01), remove the top (4 brass screws and 4 silver screws on the bottom, 2-3 silver screws on the back), next to the lens is the colorwheel. remove the 2 black screws on the colorwheel base, 2 black screws on the metal tunnel frame side, remove the tunnel glass. replace, and reverse the instructions to put it back together.

New Problem after fixing Light Tunnel on a SP 4805

It sounds like you have mounted the replacement light tunnel incorrectly. It is a common error. What has happened is you have the light tunnel sitting on yop of the positioning stop which is opposite from the color wheel side. If you take it back apart you will see that it's not laying parallel to the casting. if you reposition it so it is just touching where the opening is in the clamp on the color wheel side you will feel it fall into place.

Glass prism

Greetings,

Thanks for contacting us regarding your product questions or concerns. It appears you are wanting to know how to reach the glass prism from your 4805?

My initial question would be, why are you looking to access the glass prism in your 4805? This is a very dilicate process internally of your projector which helps it opperate. Are you trying to self-repair your projector?

Let me know. I'll be waiting for your reply.

Color Wheel SP 4805

well, u might laugh at how i have solved this problem a couple of times... yea, the colour wheel on my sp4805 came apart to pieces, literally. the first time it was only two of the six segments, so i reglued em with SUREHOLD all american super glue. it lasted perfectly for about , say, 5 months or so... then, it happenned again this time shattering all of the six segments to pieces. oh, no!!!!! well, i breathed woundly and looked for the glue one more time... yes, an artesan work that took me about 3 hours and my eyes crying to almost perfectly glue together all of the six segments one by one, each one in pieces and this time the color, of course, isnt so perfect, but close to it... how long will it last this time? can someone tell me why no one sells this pieces, it would be a great business over the internet!!! i dont wanna bury my sp4805 in the backyard... and i dont know if the colour wheel can sustain any more glue... lol. well, its just a solution for a few months while u can save for a new proyector... shame for infocus... hope it helps u. let me know if u know about someone who sells color wheels ok?

Color wheel for a 4805

I've encountered this same issue. I had a large Yellow Line down the left side of the screen for a few months. It got bigger and bigger, then one day I was using it and Bam! What sounded like a fire cracker was my color wheel exploding. I also had the rubbing sound, or at least something similar to that sound prior to the explosion. InFocus quoted me about $300 to fix..
