if his does not fix the problem
have you tried this control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check

No sound

Hi noylaurente,

This seems to be a case of no sound driver installed , all you need to do is follow the below steps :-

  1. Insert the Asus motherboard cd in your disk drive and it should autorun.
  2. In the autorun options you would find audio driver's installation.
  3. Select the audio driver installation and proceed with the install till it's completed.
  4. When it's complete you will get a message saying installation completed successfully.
Restart your system and you would be able to hear sounds , if not then follow the below steps :-

  1. Check if the speaker's pin is inserted in the right slot usually the out put slot is green in color for speakers on the motherboard.
  2. Check if the sound has been muted accidentally by going in the control panel and then going in the the sounds and audio devices section.
  3. Or an alternate way is to double click on the volume control icon you see in the right hand corner of the taskbar and check the master volume settings , if it's muted , please unmute it.
Hope this helps ...)

I'm nnot able to hear sound

Now there is a new driver for sound which can be downloaded from the ASUSwebsite. Another thing is that is an old ver motherboard and might not be compatible with win 7. Try installing XP_Pro and see if it works then................sodeep.

ASUS A7V8X-X Audio

I'd format and reinstall windows, chances are that the custom drivers you downloaded first are conflicting with the official driver, you could be there for weeks trying different drivers without any success, your only other option is to buy a cheap soundcard and work around it that way.

The motherboard may be the ASUS A7V8X-X (not A7VBX-X); the audio driver is available on the ASUS site.
