Have same issue on a Smeg gas hob. Found that by removing all four knobs and pressing each red ignition button in turn I found one that was sticking. After a few presses it seemed to become unstuck.

If you accidently got the igniter switches wet, this will happen. If you lose a good ground on he unit this will also happen. Check both of these to see if that helps.

Hello
I removed mine and cleaned them and they worked good exepct for the right front one, I had to replace that one, it cost me $15.00. To remove the sending unit to the ignitor, they are located in the switch rod, just remove the knobs and remove the switch covers and they are white with 2 wires attached to them, just remove the wires and lift, then clean good and put back on.
Hopes this Help

Broken knob

Turn off the power to the appliance. Squirt WD40 liberally all round the knob, trying to get it in behind it. Wiggle the knob and press it down and up if possible to let the WD40 oil work in to the dirty or stuck joints. Leave for a few hours and wiggle it again to see if its loosened up.

Continuous clicking from an igniter in the off position. I have to slightly turn the control knob towards the hi position to stop the clicking and for the light on the control knob to go off

sounds like it was turned a little past the stop point.
Pull two knobs off and examine the back side that slides onto the shaft.
Switch them and try again.
If the problem is on the same burner, the shaft may be turned past its normal stop position.
You can try turning it until it stops in the opposite direction and force it just a tiny bit more.
That was how I fixed mine.

The ignition on my hob is sparking every second or so constantly on it's own? The knobs don't seem to be stuck down or anything obvious. All four ignition points on the cooking points are visibly sparking.

I think the problem lies at your knob mechanism. Try to service the mechansm. Currently the possible problem is lies at the contact point(electrical) might accidently contact without pressing down the knob. This normally occur when it is hyper press or there are grease in between the contact. Possible solution is replace the damage knob... or repair it.

Automatic Eletric Ignition stopped working

It's is normal for the ignitors not to work when wet, once they dry they should work. The best thing is to check the electric sending unit, they are a small white kind of square that goes on the switch, just lift the knobs and take the cover of the switches and you should see the sending units righ on the rod that hold the knobs, they have to small wires attached to them, It seems to me that thats were your problem is.
Do you hear the click clik when you put the knob on LITE??

Stuck auto ignition

Either one of the ignition switches are stuck down internally or the ignition pack is faulty, no other possible cause. Regards Advisor
