My starmate will power on and then the display dims 50%. The display goes blank for 1/2 second then the SIRIUS {dog logo} satellite radio banner comes on and stays there for 10 seconds. The process repeats and it never tunes into any channel. This only happens inside with the home adapter. If I put in the antenna plug then the banner screen doesn't even show up. This is really annoying since it is a "pre ban" model AND I have a LIFETIME subscription on the unit. Of course where I bought it is going bankrupt and they don't carry the newer (underpowered) Starmate model at all. So much for an extended warranty and quality products. The thing is barely 3 years old!

Three months ago I had the same problem. My wife paid over $300 for the radio, the portable boom-box and subscription less than 2 years ago.
Sirius offered no help or discount on a new radio. Guess they follow the Microsoft doctrine because they suggested I upgrade to a new radio.

Anyhow, feeling frustrated, I took the receiver apart, thinking that a stray voltage on an IC ping maybe causing the problem. It was only a guess. I don't even have a wiring diagram At any rate, once I had it apart, I used a small flathead screw driver and drug it (lightly) across all IC pins, possibly in an effort to drain the voltage. Please do this in a low static area.

When I put everything back together, the receiver worked. It's been working good the up until about 2 weeks ago, when the same problem began again. I just finished the same process and the receiver is working again.

I don't advocate this for anyone who doesn't know how to handle electronics.

I'm just very disappointed in Sirius for not admitting the problem and providing no discount for a newer model. I have a $10 clock radio that's 9 years old. Guess what, I don't have to take it apart every three months to keep it working.

I had the same problem. Mine started with the typical power issues. I took the receiver apart and re-soldered the power input jack. It powered up fine but stayed on the title screen. Just got off the phone with Sirius. I was on hold maybe 2 minutes and was offered a new radio for free with no questions asked.

May not have the features but sure beats something that doesn't work....

It sounds like you have entered a AUX mode this is when the device tried to find audio input (for example an ipod) look for a button called Function/input or radio

You are not going to be happy about this. I am actually on hold with Sirius as I am typing this. I am having my account suspended...
For the past 2 months I have had the same difficulties. The unit will work properly for a few minutes and then go crazy. Music cuts out, the screen dims and brightens, the same start-up tone and sometimes the unit freezes and won't respond to the remote or any buttons on the unit. There is usually a high pitched 'whine' in the background of every channel. Quite often after the unit does its start-up tone thing there will be no music at all and I will hear strange noises through my speakers, like a thumping or something.
The reason you won't be happy is because I am on hold with a tech and he told me that my unit is at the end of its life. There is nothing you can do about it. Its dead.
Im sure you are as happy as I am about having to dump another 170 dollars or whatever for a new unit. Its bull. I have been told that the sirius units have a life of about 2-3 years but I didn't know if I believed it. I do now. And I don't know if I will continue business with them.

My delphi xm is frozen

My radio was stuck on "scanning media" and the regular reset (volume up and Mode) did not work.
Nothing that I did, fixed it...
I called Delphi and they said...
(1) Put radio in it's cradle, press Volume UP/Mode buttons for 3 seconds until it resets.
(2)Then when the "scanning media" message appears press up arrow, down arrow, up arrow.

My delphi screen unlocked. I LOST everything that I had recorded, but that was fine with me.

I had to update the firmware and everything is working fine.

Losing all my recorded songs was much better than having to send in my radio!

Hopefully this will work for you!
Delphi was extremely helpful and very nice so don't be afraid to call them if this doesn't work!

Perhaps all your memory is being taken up by the radio replays, try disabling radio replays see if that helps.

Problem with memory

The problem is simple to fix...shut off radio replays. Thought they are supposed to make you aware of low memory..the replays seem to automatically replace "loved" songs.

Nuvi 610 - External charging causes screen to freeze.

Don't disconnect it just because the screen freezes. This can happen if the battery is depleted too far, because the load is too great for charging AND running the device simultaneously. Leave it connected for 20 minutes or so, to see if the screen returns to normal appearance. If not, then you will be needing a new battery. Be sure to charge the new one BEFORE it is fully depleted. They are not NiCd batteries, so there is no need to fear ?memory effect". With NiMh and Lithium batteries, those days are gone, thank God!

I believe it's actually a firmware issue with the SIR-KEN1. I havethe same setup and have the same exact problem. I have to cycle thru my "SRC" button and get back to Sirius for it to work. Not a happy camper. I read on the Sirius Backstage forums about the firmware, although I have written Directed Electronics (SIR-KEN1 manufacturer) and never received a response.
