Every time I power up my computer I have to turn it on & off at least 3x until it finally works. I'll turn it on and the screen will go crazy with lines, or it'll just freeze before it gets to the start up screen. Its really annoying, and I just wanted to see if there was a way to fix it-before I go through the whole recovery process. Thanks!

At what point during boot-up do you see the crazy lines? Any error messages?
If it is not a Windows issue, then recovering it will not solve the problem as it could be hardware related.
    Thanks

Within seconds of turning it on-right after the screen where you can choose to start-up in safemode. No error messages. Sometimes a very loud

SOURCE: Boot up and down

Hi,

I've had a couple of machines with similar symptoms.

The remedy will be one of a few.

Instead of a recovery, you may need to do a full system install.

The most likely problem is the heat sink/fan is getting clogged with debris, thus causing the system to run hot, which includes the video module. Cleaning this out is definitely something that needs to be done regularly in any case.

Also, the lcd cable may be slightly loose where it connects to the lcd.

Finally, it's possible that the video module is going bad... not much you can do about that.

Hope this helps.

Good luck

I would first attempt to reinstall the software from the install cd. Your Toshiba support page is recomending a new BIOS upgrade. See below:

SOURCE: Computer freezes

If you can manage to bring up msconfig from the Start, Run command I would stop all unimportant start up tasks for the time being. I prefer malwarebytes and ccleaner for maintenance on my systems. If interested here's the links :)

SOURCE: a black screen with a blue box asking to ENTER CURRENT PASSWORD

If you can get a windows 98 disk just to format the drive you can reinstall without any problem .the thing is that if you do a clean install the drive needs to be complely clean of the os so if you start with win 98 than win you install your system disk you should have no problem the thing is when you do a reinstall some time the drive is not wiped clean just reinstalled over and you still have the same problem soo try to find win 98 or have someone make you a boot disk it will contain fdisk which is a disk format utility than install you restore disk this should work good luck let me know what happens

Instead of doing an automated recovery, try system restore. This helps when automated recovery cannot find a solution

HP PAVILLION F1703 GOES A SLEEP AND CANT TURN ON WITH OUT RESTART

July 2010

I have 3x F1703 screens, which Ive had in store, due to the problems of powering up the panels. Basically as descibed here, panels would go out.

After reading this posting, I decided to strip the 3x Panels down, as I was going to dump them anyway, in the past fear of attempting to open the cases and breaking meant I never got around to attempting to fix.

The front face comes off with a bit of difficulty, via prizing open using a kitchen knife,,, with 3 panels I had practise, so do take car. Work from the bottom edge of your panel.

On opening, you have a secure backplate you have to remove by unscrewing 12 screws, this then allows you to flip over the panel and to get to the control boards.

My first screen was damaged, but this had a later Processor board but an earlier power amp board...I salvaged the amp board with torodial coils. then used this on the 2nd panel - this now works fine!

The 3rd Panel, is also a early 2003 model, but again has a slighly different amp board, Im going to have to canablise the boards from 2 panels to make one good one.

The POWER fault was FOUND TO BE none other than a loose soldering on the power connector to the amp board, the solder was cracked and only needs to be soldered!

thats todays job, re-solder the amp board power socket and hopefull 2 out of 3 panels will be working once more

Hope this has helped

Thanks for the article as its enabled me to fix 2 panels, with thanks to you all

Alarm light on and u051 error mx310

Hi

You’ll need to reset your printer to clear the ink counters, after resetting it’ll not display the error code again. Follow this procedure to reset the printer--

1. Power off the printer.
2. Holding the stop/reset button, press and hold power button also. Hold both buttons together for 5 secs.
3. Still holding the power button, release the stop/reset buton, then press the stop/reset button twice.
4. Release power button (the screen should now say 'Service Mode').
5. Wait until the power button lights steady green, then press the stop/reset button three times with a 3 sec space between each press. On the 3rd press the indicator should turn steady orange.
6. Press the power button once, (the orange light should go off).
7. Open the printer and remove both cartridges. Wait for 10 seconds. Replace the cartridges and close printer. Wait for 30 seconds.
8. Press the power button, and wait until printer has shut down.
9. Press power button to power up. The printer will feed one piece of paper, then ask you to set the language.
10. The page counter is now reset.

Please rate the solution & revert for further assistance.

Thanks

After pluging in no power or power light

All of you have the same problem I have--the crazy thing won't boot up--blue lights but a dead, black screen. I've also had problems with the laptop becoming really hot. I've "resolved" these two issues by 1) setting the computer to never turn off. This works great until an auto-update of some program or other is necessary, usually in the middle of the night, and then a restart of the computer is necessary for the laptop to acknowledge the update. 2) When you turn on the laptop and all you get is blue lights on the keyboard, try this: Hold the power button on until the laptop turns off. Count to twenty and then holding the base of the laptop with both hands, turn it on its left side as you're holding it in the air, with the keyboard vertical instead of horizontal. While holding it in this position, push the power button. 99% of the time this will restart this crazy computer. I wonder if it's some kind of problem with the motherboard, but I am afraid to tinker with it. 3) Get yourself a laptop fan to help draw off the excessive heat so you don't cook your laptop. These HP model is prone to overheating and other issues, so we all have to band together to help one another overcome all its idiosyncracies. While all this is not a solution, it'll at least help you limp along until you can come up with a better answer. What have you got to lose at this point?

Blank screen

i have the same problem with my nokia 6260.. what i did was, at first getting the fone "power on" and "power off" repeatedly while charging makes the screen back to normal. b4 it would only take me 3x "on and off" but now i cant count how many until it turns normal again. or if it doesn't work try to open (disassemble) your fone n make sure it does not have any moisture on it, check the connectors if properly connected worst... you must change yor LCD. try it n i hope this post helps..
