I'm having the same problem. I even got the shop to replace the disk but the same thing happened. Then I tried playing a song on someone else's profile and it auto-saved correctly, no hassle! Of course, when I switched back to my main profile it again failed to find the storage device. I have even tried changing the storage device by putting in a memory card and trying to save to that but that doesn't work either. My normal profile is connected to an xbox live account whereas the other I used is not and so that could be the problem? Can anybody help with this?

Nah, the problem is the DLC song called "I Am Murloc". When I found this out, I went to delete it. Now, if you did this earlier you have to perform system maintenance before you play guitar hero. That is where you go to the system (purple background) spot and open memory. When you see your hard drive press y and then you should see rename and format. Press X+X+LB++RB+X+X. Then go to play it and see which files work. If you beat I am Murloc on your favorite file like I did, then you just lost what you worked on for the past x months. It will never save again, no matter what you do. If no accounts work or you just don't want to do this, I'd suggest buying a memory card and beat the game again, saving it on that file. Good luck, Activision sucks!

If you didn't sign into your profile, that could be your problem. If you don;t have enough space in you harddrive or meomory card that could also be the problem. HOpe that helps. :)

Hi, firstly, thanks to meowmicks for his solution.

I would like to add that after so much searching on the internet and through countless forums, I have found a few of the GH3 downloaded content packs cause this trouble too. Mine was the Foo Fighters pack and the Isle of Wight pack, as well as the I am murloc song meowmicks mentioned before.

I have deleted all DLC content and it works fine again now. I'll never buy DLC content for GH3 again.

Hope this helps any of you that have this problem too.

It actually sounds like it maybe a setting in either your parental controls or console settings if you have settings wrong some games won't save and others won't even play

Ps2 memory card

First of all, make sure the card is in slot one. I'm not sure about Guitar Hero 3, but I know many games default to searching the first slot (the one on your left as you look at the system).

Assuming that's not the problem, it could be a sign that your memory card is wearing out. Do you have a second memory card? If not, I suggest getting one. Either way, put one card in each slot, and go into the browser. Copy the Guitar Hero saves over to the other card, then put that card in slot 1 and see if it works. If it does, I suggest copying all your saved games over to the new card, and throwing the old one out before you lose any save games permanently.

No data for guitar hero III

I'm using the slim... maybe it is the type of memory card but guitar hero is the only game I've had a problem with. I just restarted the game and then beat it over again. After it said that there wasn't any data and I chose to make a new one, it said that there was data but it was corrupt. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, but I haven't had any trouble since I started over the other one.
