Lawn mower won't run

I have john deere LT133 riding mower that will not start. It will crank over, and if you pour gas directly into carburetor it will start for a second. What do I do?

I have a john deere stx46 that will crank but not start. Gas is getting to the carb but nothing seems be be coming out the other side of the carb. Could the carb be clogged?

pour a little bit of gas in the carburetor and try it. if it starts for a few seconds it may be clogged and need to be cleaned. change the spark plug first. and try if it wont start then try the carburetor.

John Deere L130 riding lawn tractor will not start what do I do?

I'm assuming the motor will crank over, but not start. Remove the air intake cover & filter off the carburetor air intake. Do you smell gas? Is gas dripping out of the carburetor? If not, spray a couple shots of starting fluid or carburetor cleaner into the carburetor air intake throat. Close the choke & crank the engine. If it starts, & stalls, repeat the process. If it won't stay running, your carburetor float jet is gummed up & needs to be cleaned. Check & clean the spark plug. Does the spark plug fire when the engine is cranked? If no, then you have an ignition problem.

Doesn't act like it is getting gas. Cranks but wont start. Will start if I pour gas in carboretor but won't stay running. Changed gas filter and fuel pump.

Hi: I sounds like it is not getting gas, it probably need the carburetor cleaned out. but first make sure the gas is turned on, tighten the carb . I you have left it for a long time with out running the gas out it most likely needs the carb cleaned Good Luck I hope I was of some help

How to clean carburetor on John Deere JS36 Lawn mower

Indeed, a dirty carburetor can prevent the John Deere JS36 from starting or running correctly. Mine had this problem. A video that helped:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArCAivgAyww

The video is more in depth than you need but basically shows you what to look for inside the unit. Essentially: Remove the air filter assembly from the carburetor (a couple of bolts). Clamp off the fuel line, disconnect it from the carb. Unbolt the carb from the mower (a few bolts). Disconnect the choke and throttle arms from the top of it. Unscrew the cup from the carb, clean everything out. I used compressed air for all the little fuel channels. Reassemble, reattach.

Sounds like gummy gas. Try a shot of carburetor cleaner down the fuel line to the carburetor. Or take the carburetor apart and clean it, squirting through all the tiny holes and inspecting the float needle for abnormal wear. replace the float needle assembly if necessary.
