Re: cannot install vista - BSOD
According to intel specs it does support 64 bit can you boot in safe mode as you may have driver conflict. try ERD commander (softarchive) this boots from cd and loads up so you can check system files etc it may help
The processor is core 2 quad 2.4 ghz, and as far as i know it does support 64 bt os. also bios is updated to latest from intel site using flash drive. but there were no mentions in the bios about using 32 or 64 bit os

It could be that 1GB of Ram is not enough to run Vista, I had vista once on 1GB of RAM and the computer went so slow I couldn't work or do anything with it. What I did was, format the computer (after backing up all the necessary data) and install Windows XP, its the best operation system until now, until Windows 7 Comes out! Either Install Windows XP, or get your computer one more GB of RAM or more.
Did you get an error message during install of the (system with the SATA 160GB drive)? Make sure the 160GB drive is shown in the bios. Than go to the title, Boot in the bios & make sure the SATA 160GB is listed in the boot order. (Preferred 3rd. boot device) Please go to the SATA drive's manufactures site & download either their bootable floppy or CD setup software. (It’s free)! Use their software to setup the FAT & cluster size on the drive. You can even set other features that neither the bios or windows can do. Format the 160GB drive with the software as well. The manufacture's software does a better job than windows. If the 160GB drive is a SATA 2.0 leave the jumper on the drive alone. The Desktop Board supports four Serial ATA channels (3.0 GB/s) via ICH7, connecting one device per channel. Again, please run the manufactures setup software for your SATA 160GB drive. (Disconnect any other drives that may be in the system until windows is installed). Intel's web site here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2839&lang=eng
Good luck ameyaniks! If I missed something, just let me know. Mike
I had the same problem. After some experimentation, I traced it the Core 2 Duo processor that I was using. I fixed the problem by switching the CPU to single processor mode in the BIOS setting. Windows installed fine. After all the drivers and the windows updates were installed, I switched the single processor mode off.
