The motor has a built-in thermal shutoff switch.
Either the switch has started shutting off too soon or the motor is overheating, possibly from inadequate air circulation. Electric motors are air cooled, and if too much dust or pet hair plugs the cooling vents, it will shut off from the heat.

I have model#UD40350 total pet compact. The lower vacuum brushes don.t turn.

Hi! It sounds like you have a broken or stretched belt. The belt controls the brush roll. If you are using the vacuum on carpet, you need the brushes to spin to agitate the carpet fibers. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to replace your belt. I have also included a link to the instruction manual if needed.

1. Lay cleaner flat and flip to expose nozzle base. To remove nozzle guard, use Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws.
2. Lift and remove brush roll and dispose of old belt if you see one.
3. Slide belt (style 19) onto motor shaft.
4. Place new belt on area of brush roll without bristles.
5. With new belt in place, pull and slide brush roll into nozzle making sure that the brush roll end caps are in the correct orientation.
6. Replace all screws to replace nozzle guard.

Bissell pet hair bagless instruction manual

Do you mean the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser bagless vacuum cleaner? The user manual for this vacuum is available from the product page: http://www.bissell.com/pet-hair-eraser-vacuum/ . Look on the right hand side of the page. The direct link to the English version of the manual is: http://www.bissell.com/assets/0/132/134/228/e5babada-7240-40ea-93c0-90427ed32741.pdf . Note: you will need Adobe Reader or a similar product to access (read/print) the manual.

Bissell has a number of vacuums for cleaning up after pets. Look for your vacuum here: http://www.bissell.com/pet-vacuum/ . The manuals for most are on the product page. For example, there is also the Bissel Pet Hair Eraser OptiClean Cyclonic vacuum. The manual is here: http://www.bissell.com/assets/0/132/134/228/dd4a7280-504f-4483-84a1-bfcc3a239f45.pdf . Older product manuals may be available here: http://www.bissell.com/customer-support/ . Scroll down to the Users Guide search box.

I hope this helps.

Beater bar wont spin

hello rud.... this is due to either a broken belt or lots of carpet fibers or pet fur in the beater bar mechanism. turn it off, unplug it and then turn it on it's side and check to see if the bar turns freely by hand. if it does, you will have to replace the belt assembly.... most dyson's have the belt built in to a plastic housing forcing you to buy a pricey part. I have the same problem as discussed above. My Hoover Pet Cyclonic upright stops working while using it. The bottom feels hot when this happens. When it first occurred, I emptied the canister and even...

The vacuum is probably getting hot and the thermal sensor in the motor is shutting it off and then allowing it to come back on after it cools down. You mentioned replacing the secondary filters, replace the exhaust filter too.
If replacing all the filters did not solve it you may have a clog or restriction somewhere causing the loss of suction and the overheating.

Troubleshoot Bissell Lift-Off Revolution Pet Vacuum Cleaner

Probably a hose clog. Check the hose on the back of the cannister. Most likely clogged where it attaches to allow debris into the cannister. If cannister is not filling up, that's a sure sign. To remove from top of back of cannister, just turn the ring on the end of the hose to release. Take it outside and push a long thin object through it to force out the clogged hair or debris. The motor is designed to shut off the vacuum cleaner for 30 minutes when this happens to avoid burning up your motor.

Won't work cleaning tools

There is a clog somewhere.

Most likely at any bends or where the hose enters the main body of the vac.

Make sure it's unplugged.
Romove the hose, stretch it out straight and see if you can see through it.

If there arer any hard piped bends try running a pipe cleaner through it to see where the blockage is.

Again, it's likely where the hose base meets the vac housing.

Needle nose pliers com in handy for pulling out string, hair, rig fibers pet fur etc.

Dirt devil purpose for pets vacuum quit working

The motor overheats from the filter being clogged underneath the canister or the canister or both are clogged-without the air flow the motor overheats and shuts off as a precautionary measure.By letting the motor cool off it will start again but will turn off shortly if the filters are not properly cleaned.Hope this helps everyone.
