Depending on the version of printer, print a demo sheet from either a button combo on the printer or the menu. Does the demo sheet have text and the photo? How is the quality?

Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
Right above where the black ink cartridge was, in the top left hand corner of the printhead, push up towards the ceiling and you should be able to push a button that releases the printhead.
Place the printhead right back into the printer and push straight back on the back wall.
You should hear a loud snap.
Replace the ink cartridges which should snap as well.
Close the printer.
After about a minute or so the printer will ask you to do a calibration.
Insert a paper and press start.
Scan the calibration sheet.
After that, in the menu, do a printhead clean.
Do one basic and one deep.
Print a demo sheet to see if anything has changed.
If the picture looks better, continue to do cleans.
In the event that it does not, the printhead will need to be replaced and since the printer is still under warranty, Kodak specialists will try to overnight you a printhead.
The whole process is short and free.

I had costco refill my color and my black cartridges but it does not recognize the cartridge the error message reads, "cartridge on left is not intended for this printer", what can I do?

best thing to do is get rid of the used cartridges and use HP OEM ink products- they might be costly but will work when asked to and wont ruin the inside of your printer and force you to buy a new one- once you have used a third party ink all your HP warranties were nullified,
THIRD PARTY INKS are NOT the way forward. their ink pigments are usually the wrong type and often not the right shade of colour, which will make colour prints look dull or poor colour calibration.

Tip

Remanufactured Cartridges

Today everybody seems to be selling cartridges. They all have the best deal in town. Although it may seem like you are saving money at the time when you purchase a recycled cartridge from the internet or a local dealer; beware of a few things that not all people know about recycled cartridges.

First off not all recycled cartridges are manufactured in the same way and have the Consumers Seal of approval. Your local retailer may take your empty cartridge out back and within a few moments you have a refilled cartridge. There is nothing wrong with this method, but you need to know that the cartridge has not been tested so there is no guarantee that it will work sufficiently. Make sure that the company doing the refill is willing to exchange or give you your money back if the cartridge fails. Also if the cartridge has been refilled more than a couple of times you may find that the quality of print will not be as good as when you purchase the cartridge new. They do not replace the print heads on the cartridges which burns out after a few refills. Also the chip that indicates whether your cartridge is full or empty cannot be reset, so you may have problems with your printer excepting the refill. Refilled laser cartridges have a drum that is important to your print quality, if they do not replace the drum unit your prints may suffer. Also colour cartridge refills don't have the same ink quality as when you purchased it new. The colour quality may be very poor when printing photos or coloured documents.

When dealing with cartridges ordered on-line, always find out what their return policy is and also what kind of warranty comes with the cartridge. Some companies will cover the cost of replacing a faulty cartridge. They will also go as far as fixing the printer if the cartridge in some way damages the printer. Thoroughly investigate the company before buying any product from them, as you may be stuck with a faulty cartridge and no way to return it or have it exchanged.

Get to know the different products available you can sometimes get a compatible cartridge that has had the drum unit, chip and other components replaced, which will work far better than reusing the same components over and over again. By buying compatibles you are still recycling, but not giving up on quality.

Be aware that by using refilled cartridges in printers that still have warranty, this can cause the manufacturer to not honor the warranty because of not using the OEM cartridges. All distributors and authorized dealers should be aware of this and also make their customers aware.

So buy smart and get to know what is available. The more educated you are about the products you buy, the less chance you are going to waist your money.

The best compatible cartridge I have come across is the Xerox Brand. They make compatibles for Hewlett Packard printers. We sell this product to many of our customers and have had very few returns due to a faulty cartridge. When there has been a problem; Xerox has come through for us and has fixed our customers printer when it has caused damaged. Which has left us with a successful cartridge to sell and happy customers.

Poor print quality

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridges that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

We have a HP Colour Laser Jet 3600n. We have

nope...... the problem as you rightly poit out is the cartridges, most refills are poor quality and dont last, but the real ones are expensive but very rarely cause issues. If one colour is dodgy the entire colour process fails, print a square of each colour to determine which colour cart is the issue and complain to seller, 99.9% of print quality issues with these HP's is due to non gen toner....not much you can do, expensive is colour printer fullstop.

New black ink but very poor quality print?

Is this an original DEll toner, or a remanufactured one?
Sometimes a remanufactured cartridge can need a few pages printed before the new toner 'works ' through the internal mechanisms. Not all remaufacturers actually test (all) of their cartridges. The better ones test 100%, to ensure a quality product.

It could be that the wrong toner has been used in the cartridge (not all toner is the same - by a long way).

It could be that the drum has NOT been replaced. These can be light damaged and result in a poor print quality. An original drum is purple in colour. Aftermarket drums are blue/green.

Printer ink cartridges contain ink but printer says not!

The chip on the cartridge tells the printer how much ink is left in the cartridge. If the chip says the cartridge is empty, it won't print no matter how much ink is left. That said I think you got refills that didn't get the chips reset or compatibles (non-Epson brand cartridge body) with poorly made chips that expired before they should have. You need to have all the cartridges installed with functioning chips to use your printer. You need to buy new cartridges of the ones your printer thinks are empty. I recommend Cartridge World for refills because they make a quality product that doesn't have these kind of "novice" refiller problems. I would never buy refills or compatibles off the internet because you get what you pay for.
