If you only used the MS Office Small Business product key once then i'm pretty sure that you can use it 2 more time before Microsoft determines that that its been used too many times. This means you shouldn't have to buy another product key from Microsoft.
First of all you need to uninstall MS Office Home and Student first. Don't try using the other product key that came with the setup disks because it won't work. Or the product key with the laptop because that is for the operating system.
To unistall Home and student go to the Control Panel and select unistall a program as i expect the operating system is Windows 7 seeing as its a new laptop. If its Vista then its under Programs and Features in the Control Panel.
Look for all instances of MS Office and uninstall them if there are more than one. This is because if you have installed MS Small business as well as having MS H&S there could be a conflict. When your done unistalling Office H&S or/and Small Business restart your laptop and get your setup disks for Small Business and install it. It should accept the product key that came with that and let you activate it.
If it doesn't then you need to give Microsoft a call and explain to them you had it installed on a computer that crashed and the key had been used only once. They should then provide you with an activation code or key.
Good luck and if there is anything else please post back.
MS Office Home/ Student 2007 comes as a 60 day trail whenever u buy a pc or laptop installed with windows vista or windows 7. You need to buy a license if you want to use it after 60 days. You can buy one here http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101211561033.aspx.
If you are sure if you paid for Office while buying your pc or laptop contact your vendor.
Just in case if you lost your product key after installing office and activating it you can get back your product key using the keyfinder which you can download it from here
Hi there. MS Office 2007 comes preinstalled with the laptop and is only a trial version, the key underneath the laptop is the product key for the operating system (Vista, XP etc) and will not activate office. If the trial period has run out then you have to buy a product key from Microsoft. If you don't want to pay for an office based program then i suggest you download Openoffice for free, you can read any MS Office document with that.
If you cannot find your product key, you can obtain a new one. To obtain a new product key, contact Support. Find the Support telephone number for your area by running the Product Activation Wizard on your computer. How to access the Product Activation Wizard
