Communicating my laptop with my Dlink 624 router

Hello,
I am trying to connect my laptop to my Dlink DI 624 Airplus xtreme G wireless router which i recently bought,
Now it says "connected" but when i try to access the internet it says different steps on troubleshooting.
It says to repair its connection but it end up saying " Can not communicate with 192.168.0.1" what would be the best solution to allow me to communicate with the router from the laptop to allow me to access the internet from my laptop from the router?

ok you just the d-link din try to connect. if is not yet connected.. just to click the computer sign of the d-link click the support the click repair for the ip address. if finish click the properties and advance then settings just dont check to the Dont allow Exceptions. then ok . the upter that u must turn off your computer

first, you need to make access by cable (rj45), may be has the router adreses 192.168.1.254 0r 192.168.1.1, & make configurations for the wi fi from the router
