This could be 2 possible symptoms 1 the thermostat which gets the heater element to work. 2 it is the heating element that is faulty if the element has gone then this is about £15 to buy which u get both thermostats which u might has well replace both at the same time now if its the heater element then this will be around £20-25 to replace now my best suggestion is call out an engineer that doesnt charge any call out fee this will tell u exactly which if these it is if its thermostat then do it yourself easy job which will only take u around 30 minutes to do from start to finish if its the heater element then get them to do it which should cost around £65 to do this is because it needs to be sealed properly otherwise it will leak and cause more problems in the long run

Cold Fill Washing Machine Does Not Get Hot

Do y7ou have 2 hoses at the back of the machine one for cold water and one connected to the hot water tap of the house. If not then you have a cold water in only. If you have 2 hoses have you connected the hoses into the machine correctly Have you checked to see if your machine has a heating element under the bowl for heating the water. As an appliance shop to verify if you have by the model number of the machine. otherwise you have a cold washing machine and unless you can plumb hot water to it that is all you will have.

We have no hot water boiler kaput - will washing machine heat water (hot wash) if only cold water is going into inlets.

Yes. The washing machine contains heating element and a thermostat. It will try to get water from both hot and cold sources and will heat the water to the required temp.

Does this machine have a heating, if not how is it supposed to do a 90 degree wash ?

Hi,
You don't actually mention what make and model but all machines have heaters. If it has both hot and cold fill it will heat the water if it is not hot enough, or mix with cold if it is too hot. If it is cold fill only it has to heat the water anyway ;-0)
If you do not think it is heating sufficiently the heating element could be malfunctioning.

I have been putting my washing on a 40 wash and have been putting enough washing liquid in but my clothes just will not wash, i have felt the glass in the door but it doesnt get very hot, is my washing...

The hot water goes into the machine at a slower rate than the cold water does. Open the hot spigot (water valve) behind the washing machine all the way open, then open the cold spigot just enough to get the desired 'warm' temperature of the water going into the machine while the machine is filling. You may have to shut the door to allow water to flow. Remember that it takes a minute or so for hot water to reach the machine from hot water tank.

Cold water fill does it heat to temputure requied?

Hi,

If your washing machine has inlets for both hot and cold water, you should connect both if possible. If you can only connect cold water, the washing machine will still work and heat to the required temperature, but it will need to heat the water in the machine, so the wash cycles will take longer and it will use more energy.

If connecting a hot and cold fill washing machine with cold water only, you will need to connect a Y-Piece for it to work:

The tail of the "Y" attaches to the cold water valve on your pipework. You then attach both hot and cold water hoses to the branches of the "Y" and connect both hot and cold water hoses to your washing machine.

Please post back if you need further assistance.

BElectric

My washing mechine washes with only cold water

They make a Y or T-adapter so you could hook up the hoses (you;d have to pick up one for hot water) and then the other part of the attachment to the washer.

This is not exactly it, but it'll give you an idea of what you need to look for:

Not able to do hot washing

My LG Toploader (wft753a) has a cold and a hot inlet, and the mechanism inside the machine simply turns the flow from each tap on and off. There is no internal heating element in it.
