Hi my name is wesley. please check if *********** board has sata ports in it ou will see it easilly on the board if not then you cannot use it sorry. the ports are either red or black and all you do is plug one end to the board and the other to the hard disak then plug power in the hard disk and it will work if not then you might need to set it as slave if you already have a master hard disk you will see there are pins on the hard disk with a little jack and the instructions on how to put it to slave or master is on the disk all you gotta do is move the jack accordingly.

I have a new 8ogb sataII Exelstor hardisk which i

Windows XP does -not- have native SATA support and therefore will not recognize a SATA drive without first installing 3rd party drivers.
To go around this problem without installing drivers check your BIOS. There might be something in there where the bios will emulate an IDE controller.

If not, you'll need a floppy and the sata drivers. A flash drive will also do if the motherboard bios supports legacy USB. To find the drivers, simply go to the motherboards manufacturers website.

Adding sata HDD

external / internally?

The chipset doesn't support Serial ATA so Soltek has added a Promise PDC20376 controller to provide Serial ATA Raid.

if you dont wish to send the hard drive back get usb external box which can support SATA drives

250gb sata hard disk to 845 glad mother board

Hello all. I have the same issue. My MB is 845G [P4 2.4 Ghz] and SATA harddisk I need to install is Seagate 250 GB Baracuda with 3.0Gb/s interface, I belive which makes this HD as SATA II. So for this motherboard should I prefer PCI cards which support SATA II over the supports SATA I [these are cheaper].

Thanks so mcuh!!!

is posible that u're motherboard does not support sata II (i presume that the drive is )

if that's the case, u'll have to set the jumpers on the drive to work in sata I mode ....

if u have more sata drives, check if they both are working in the same SATA mode (I or II), some motherboards can't work with both SATA standards at the same time ...
