In older cars, the natural wear and tear on a vehicle can lead to ignition switch failure. If the switch is failing, you will probably not hear any clicks from the main relay, which fires the ignition. Check the behavior of the dashboard lights if your vehicle stalls. Alternatively, when the key is first turned to position two, the oil light, brake light, charge light and other warning lights will not function. You can try a test to check the integrity of the ignition switch by turning the ignition key to the 'start' position. As soon as it tries to start let go of the key. Allow it to snap back to the 'run' position and note warning lights. If they go out as the switch snaps back then the switch is faulty. if faulty it will not let power through to the starter to start car. check all fuses first. but sounds like switch.

Why won't my starter crank?

What make vehicle ? Is there a security light lit on the dash. Most all vehicles have a starter relay that is controlled by the PCM engine computer . If there was a problem with the anti-theft system it could act like that . There are a few good videos on you tube . on how to diagnose starter system problems . Your cam an crank correlation problem could be that your timing between the crank an cam are off .

Why won't it start?

Assuming that it turns over with the starter, First I don't think you can just buy a new ECM and install it. It has to be programed for your vehicle. Same with taking one out of another vehicle. Have you checked every fuse in your vehicle? Have you checked all the wire connectors? Have you checked all the relays?

Fuse for fuel pump on 2001 pontiac sunfire

There are some logical steps need to be taken 1st. Verify if the engine has air, fuel and spark. Fuel can be checked with an inline gauge at the fuel rail. There could be several different things wrong. Bad ECM, fuel pump, injectors, fuel pressure regulator etc. Need to verify spark, this too may have several different problems. Bad ECM again, power/ground circuit faults, coil pack ect.

Citroen c2 problem it's starts but will not run. We have changed fuel pump in the tank, throttle body, coil pack, spark plugs, checked all wiring, it's says nothing on the diagnostic system We have checked...

There are two power circuits on the starter switch. One wire supplies power to the ignition and starter on start position and the other supplies power to the ignition in the run position only From the description of your problem I would be checking for power to the coil/s in the run position at the ECM pins or at the coil/s connections . It may be an immobiliser problem where the system allows the starter to operate but switches off the power in the run position.

2000 Toyota Camry did not start on first try - yellow symbol

Hard to say what it is without testing so I 'm gonna give you a list of things you or a repair shop can check out:
SYMPTOM :NO CRANK
Battery, battery cables, ignition switch, neutral safety switch, starter relay, starter.
SYMPTOM: CRANK NO START
MAKE SURE TIMING BELT DIDN'T BREAK OR SKIP A TOOTH,STARTER current draw test , coil, coil pack, ignition module( only if no spark at the plug wires) fuel pump relay, fuel pump, injector module and drives, fuel pressure regulator.

This year Camry is a good year. Very little problems except annoying EVAP system. TIMING BELT SHOULD BE DONE EVERY 60K . ALONG WITH CAM, CRANK, OIL PUMP SEALS AND WATER PUMP.
I recommend taking your car to Sears Auto Center
they are pretty good with this kind of work.
