Thanks for your suggestions. No corrosion on the terminals. The battries are also good as I see them working on other devices. It did turn on to show low battery once before it completely went dead.

I have the same problem. Took it to Fuji. The board is shot. They want 200 bucks to fix it. The camera isn't worth 200 bucks. I'm going to see if they will sell me the board which is $68 and install it myself.

I'm not familiar w/ the S3100 but do you see any corrosion in the battery terminals? These camers don't usually just quit working. If the terminals are clean, what battery are you using? How many mA or milliAmpere rating? These are usually indicated on the rechargable battery's sides. There are some new battery in the market. The eveready silver colored battery. I forgot the name. It is one notch above the regular alkaline battery. Let me know if this helps.

I just need to check on the milliAmpere rating if it is high enough. If it is above 1700mAh then the problem is definitely not the battery. Your best bet to is to have a Fuji technician check it out. It's not a good idea to open up digital cameras as they have a component that holds a huge amount of electrical charge. So even though it hasn't been used that capacitor can still give you a very painful burn if you open it up and accidentally touch the terminals.

I have a Fujifilm Fine pix S2900 which will not switch on correctly. It comes on and 5 seconds later switches off. I have replaced the batteries.

Often the battery contacts can get dirty. My Kodak does the same thing. When the camera tests the battery for power, the poor contacts make the camera think the battery is nearly empty so it shuts down. Give the contacts a good clean with alcohol and check they are correctly aligned. Clean the batteries too.

The A205 uses two standard AA batteries. If you use rechargeable batteries then they must be charged outside the camera. Rechargeable AA batteries and chargers should be available at just about any department, electronics, and office-supply stores.

I don't know where you got your information but, most of it is incorrect. Your camera can use two types of batteries: rechargeable EN-MH1 using the MH-70 battery charger or a non-rechargeable CRV3. The camera cannot be charged with a cord to the camera. Also, new EN-MH1 batteries will discharge quickly for the first few charges and then give good service thereafter.

On my FinePix s3100, cannot transfer picture from camera to computer. After setting the Usb Mode setting in the Setup menu, it reverts to picture read screen. Recent problem - all other settings are fine....

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Fuji s3 does not turn on...

You have done the right thing, so far. That which I would first have suggested. Congratulations! You would be surprised how many persons ignore the need for fresh batteries.

Yes, the camera should now be reset, and if that fails, service is required to make certain of your investment.

However, the battery must first be determined to be an actual Fuji battery, and if not, this is not your fault.

Please read the following:

It has been our policy to recommend that the genuine Fujifilm rechargeable battery pack be used for Fujifilm digital cameras that use a battery pack.
However, it has been confirmed that there are certain counterfeit battery packs available in the market that look very similar to a genuine Fujifilm rechargeable battery pack.

For your safety, we would like to remind you to only use genuine Fujifilm rechargeable battery packs for Fujifilm digital cameras.

I need to Repair my Fujifilm Digital Camera

Take the batteries out and clean the contacts Those at the bottom of the battery compartment you can clean with the eraser at the end of a pencil do the same with the lid. Make sure the batteries are fresh/charged When you close and lock the compartment lid squeeze it shut then turn on- it may be a contact problem. If this fails then it will be a repair shop job There will be little more for you to do.
