Wont keep memory

Is there any way to find a 2 way wiring diagram for a 92 cougar and a jvc KD-G20? One that will show me exactly what wires go where. pretty sure theyre crossed somewhere. Need to know which wire to run to fusebox for the memory.

I have an 88 Olds Delta 88 and am replacing a Clarion DB315 with a JVC AR390.  The Clarion was rigged in a way that every time I turn the car off I would lose all my settings and what a pain to reset everytime I turn the car back on.  I knew it was the 12v constant wire but just thought I would wait until I replace the unit to fix it.  Now I am finding the orange 12v constant wire in my car seems to be dead when connected to the yellow wire on the JVC thus explaining the reason for the rigged job on the Clarion.  All fuses are good, but my fear is I may have to pull the entire dash to look at the actual connection.  Is there an easier solution?  Thanks!

Most stereo manufacturers agreed on a color-coding scheme for their wiring to keep things consistent. In that scheme, red wires are run to power (ie, the battery) and serve as the ignition-switched power leads (so when the engine is shut off, the head unit also shuts off), black wires are grounds, and purple, gray, green, and white are used for the main four speakers. Blue is an antenna and/or amplifier turn-on wire. Orange is a dimmer wire (for cars with dimmers on the dash lights, this can be tapped in to also dim the head unit's lighting). Yellow wires are typically the memory wires. These feed power to the head unit constantly, regardless of whether the car is on or not, so that memory presets and tone settings are maintained. Your JVC unit should have a yellow wire coming off the back as part of the harness - this would be the one to supply power. You can run this directly to the battery - that way if you blow the fuse in the fuse box that you're considering using, you won't lose your stereo settings as well as whatever feature the fuse was utilized to protect.

Dont use the car harness ground wire.... ground the radio directly to the body of the car and your problem will be gone :)......

How can i save my settings on jvc kd-r446 ? every time i shut down my settings is reset

if it is resetting oon shut down , you dont have your memory wire connected to a full time power wire . full time power wire is a wire that has power even when car is off.. this is what saves your memory on the head unit.memory wire is usually yellow.

Why does my jvc kd-r526 reset to factory default everytime i turn it off

Try connecting the yellow wire to a constant power source. That is, a source that still has power when the key is turned off. The yellow wire controls the memory of the radio.

I installed my JVC KD-SX650 and it works but it will not keep the radio station settings and the clock setting once I turn my truck off and back on again, what could be the problem?

you need to make sure the yellow wire is going to a constant power source.. the yellow wire controls the clock and preset setting memory.
