Question about Televison & Video

5 Answers

Purchased nec tv sets from a motel hotel auction. two of them i can only get two channels on, i am not sure if those two are uhf or vhf. i can see at the back that they were connected differently to the other sets as there is part of lead connected away from the normal din or plugs normally used. is this a pay tv connection or in house and how can i change it back to normal domestic use? any advice gratefully accepted. kevin burns

HEllo Kevin,
As you say the Tv is purchased in a hotel auction the remote can be of different model from the TV..Hotels are notorious for guests "losing" remotes and replacements are often not the exact type for the model with no access to the tuning/setup menu...
Or the menu may be locked out if the set has a Hotel mode...Also check for a Lock icon next to a couple of the options in the list..IF it appears then You can be sure the menu is locked for tuning!!!..

Thank you..Please post back for further assistance !!..

Regards!!!...

I did not quite understand what you meant by "connected differently than normal".. Please use the post image option to post an image so that we can understand better. Looks like its a pay tv connection though.

Hi,
Please open the manual of the KP-53V45 TV by clicking here. To program the channels in the TV, make sure that the cable is connected to the TV using the Coaxial VHF-UHF cable. Select the Auto Program option to program the channels in the TV. Press the MENU button select SETUP MENU and then select AUTO PROGRAM option to scan all the channels in the TV.

Your old tv does not have more than 11 slots to store channel .

Thats why you are not able to get more than 11 channels .

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CHANGE MY TV TO CABLE OPTION RATHER THAN UHF OR VHF

Well let me ask some questions!
1) UHF and VHF are types of off air antenna source signals.
2) Cable TV has both the Analog 'UHF and VHF' signals on them along with the new Digital TV signal sources.
A) Is you TV have a Digital Tuner built into it or are you using a CABLE TV box to hook up to your TV?
Blessings always,

Black square in middle of picture

your captioning or "text" is on. usually inside the tv menu. if not its your cable or dish box has captioning on. black box usually means its in text mode instead of CC thus the black box rather than text

The set may be in the video mode. try going to the remote and selecting different source modes to make sure it is in the tuner mode. If it is the tuner may be bad..

My new TV is set for cable. I do not have cable, I have an anten

Sansui TV's come from the factory set for CABLE. If this is a HDLCDVD320, you will have to go into the menu to change the signal type to AIR, then run the automatic search to program in your channels. Their free customer service line is 800 289 0980.
I hope this helps.

Tv/vcr combo wrong cable channels

This could be one of two problems, either the TV tuner card is set up to accept the wrong type of signals (which normally can be changed in the menu of the television) or the card isn't capable of translating the signal (with most cable companies going over to digital signals with their boxes translating the signals over.) My suggestion is to check to make sure the proper signal type is set in your menu (if in fact this is even an option for this particular television) and if that doesn't work get a generic analog digital cable box.

Cannot get uhf stations

I am going to assume you have a Yagi antenna since you did not specify. There is a connection at the top of the antenna that sends the UHF and VHF down the wiring. This could be damaged. You also may need to repoint the antenna. www.antennaweb.org can assist with that matter. If you have another tv connected to the same antenna and it receives UHF then you may have a defective internal component on that particular set. Depending on your location an age of the set it may be cost prohibitive compared to purchasing a new set.
Hope that helps.

Firstly i do not have a projection tv problem

I've searched everywhere for any info in regards to your TVs but nothing comes up. It appears that those monitors or TVs were somehow just modified to work with the motel setup. You can try to use them with an external tuner such as a VCR to tune the channels to send the video signal to the TV.
What other type of connectors dod you have at the back?
Is there a way you can post a picture of the back of your TV?
