Question about IBM ThinkPad T40 2373 Notebook
Two of the most common problems you can check yourself are a bad battery or a bad memory chip. First try starting the machine without the battery, AC only. Then remove the memory and try starting with one or the other chip in, rarely do both chips go out at the same time. If neither of these work, then I'm afraid the problem will be with the motherboard, most likely the power management chip. If this is the case you will need to take it in for a professional diagnostic. They will be able to tell you exactly where the problem is on the board and whether it's a replaceable component.
