i also have this tv. i removed backcleaned mirrior, back of screen and lenses VERY GOOD. Then turned on tv go to convergence, sepaerate cross hairs then adjust focus on lenses. Then lenses rotate maybe about a 1/3 turn total by hand. Grab ring that houses lenses and turn until cross hairs are as clear as possible. This can be done with out help by watching inside of screen. red and green are adjustable, the blue is adjustablealso but i couldnt find blue cross hairs, maybe by covering red and green lenses the blue will show on screen. anyway when done and cross hairs are clear, lenses, mirror and screen are clean, you can adjust covergence and get a very clear screencleaning will also brighten pic. If after the Flash Focus™ feature has been performed, the colors on the FLASH FOCUS screen do no line up (converge), press the FLASH FOCUS button on the television to begin the cycle again. If the colors on the FLASH FOCUS screen continues to appear misaligned, service will be required .
NOTE: It is recommended to perform the Flash Focus™ feature about thirty minutes after the television has been turned on and keep the room as dark as possible.

Double Blue Halo Effect and Blurry Blue Picture

thats a problem with the Blue CRTs coolant needing replacement. If you look directly into the blue and green CRTs while its playing you should notice a bunch of crud inside the lens indicating that the coolant needs replacement. You can get the coolant replacement kit for a phillips at the following link which includes the coolant and instructions

I have a Philips Magnovox 8P6044 C101 60" rear projection tv that appears dim and slightly blurry. Waht are the suggested fixes and what would be a range of repair costs?

as far as the foggy / blurry appearance goes, you more than lkely have contaminated CRT coolant. This coolant (inside the lenses) should be crystal clear, and normally over time, with heat and time the crt's will grow a sort of bacteria in the coolant. I have drained crt's and the coolant has looked like applesauce before. Once you clean the crt's and replace the coolant with new coolant, the pic should be just as good as new!
