Question about Samsung SyncMaster 753S 17" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Width increases a bit on lowering and incresing resolution

I lowered resolution but the problem remains. amazingly when i went back to 1024x768 from 800x600 the the display width has increased. though it does not fit the screen yet but its wider than before.
the vertical adjustment works fine but while adjusting horizontal i see a faint white line on side edges and the actual display starts at a distance of about half a cm from those lines. so when i try to fit image to the screen i have to push those lines outside the screen.

Hence my earlier suggestion of lowering the resolution, it was actually a test.

Now we are getting somewhere. Yoke is definitely out, opposing diode pair is also out. The remote chance of the horizontal sync/oscillator is also out. That leaves us only with a possible resistor that has gone up in value (or is open) (least likely) and/or a capacitor (most likely) that has leaked, bulged or whose capacitance has gone down.

Perhaps a service manual would be of more help.

Good luck.

When I play dvds or watch videos on youtube the screen has a black border on both sides reducing the size of the screen

If you hit full screen on the youtube video and its not full screen, then it sounds like your monitor resolution is to low.

Rt click on a place on your screen and pick screen resolution, then pick resolution and increase it.

The first number is width, so say it's on 800x600 then go 1024x768

Monitor will come on briefly then turn back off, what could be the problem?

A distinct possibility would be a resolution error in the operating system. Try booting in "Safe Mode" (I assume you use Windows), and see if it works. If it does, change the resolution to something safe, such as 1024 x 768 by 16 million colours (24 bit), or even lower. Then boot normally. At that point, increase gradually the resolution.

I have samsung syncmaster 740nw how can i increase screen resolution to 1024x768?

you cannot set the resolution to 1024x768 but instead try 1280x720 or if you have graphics card try to set the resolution using its custom resolution by setting 1280x768.
It will surely solve your problem.

LCD monitor have Vertical lines and black colour become greenish

normally the 19" resolution can support up to 1280*1024, but if it comes with vertical lines in full screen, it might indicate the panel is no longer to work and probably it's time to replace new one.

Black colour displaying become greenish and narrow vertical lines

Most LCD monitors have a default refresh rate of 60 Hz. Older monitors also have limited resolution. Please check your display settings and ensure you're not using a refresh rate higher than 60, or a resolution higher than what it supports. If either one is the case, you're lucky the LCD still works.

Syncmaster 2232gw led blinking.

Change the screen resolution. The video card or video display may not be compatible to the supported video setting of the monitor. Try changing the video resolution to a lower setting such as 1024x768 and bit depth to 32 bit.

Screen resolution issue

Use the "F-8" key at boot to get into safe mode. You should then be able to fix the resolution/refresh rate conflict while in safe mode, and get back to normal.

Try lowering the screen resolution to 1024x768 and see if it displays on the screen. You will need another monitor (possibly CRT as they do high resolutions) to do this.
