Question about Pioneer PureVision PDP-502 50 in. Plasma Television

Pioneer PDP 502MX

My plasma was working this morning and now it's not. My stepson said he heard a noise and then no power. I've read on the Pioneer website that this is due to a possible power supply failure. What is a power supply failure?

My husband believes that it's a blown fuse. How would I change a fuse in television. It's definitely not the power cord because we tested it out and the power cord works fine. If it is the a power supply failure, is there any way for us to repair this on our own or does it have to be a tech?

Overload fault in the power supply or a short in one of its load circuits. In some cases, the low voltage (including B+) will just be reduced to a fraction of their normal value as a result of an overload on one of the outputs - usually the main B+.This may be caused by a shorted rectifier in the power supply, flyback, or even the yoke, but check the the loads first.

Yes, it could be an issue with the power board. Plasmas are very prone to this..best bet would be to call a tech and do an on the spot analysis.
Get back with the results and we could guide u further..

Most plasmas dont come with a fuse..You may need to replace the whole board, or the components therein...

Pioneer PDP 4330HD display flashes red LED 4 times

Hello,

Just seeing if you had resolved the problem as my mum's Pioneer PDP-433HDE which she bought back 2002 has developed this same fault.

It has been a perfect TV and done very well with plenty of good use, but I have a feeling the cost of repair - even if it is possibale will be costly.

Cheers

Nigel

I heard a pop from my tv and then the tv didn't work

Anything is repairable as long as the screen isn't damaged.
The sound you heard is most likely was a capacitor that just went dead.
Solder in a new capacitor should fix the problem. It would most likely be on the power supply board somewhere.

You'll need the Service Manual for parts list, diagrams, and schematics. Here's one place for that:

Any other questions just ask.

Pioneer pdp 502mx goes to standby no picture after power on

Contact Pioneer at 1-800-421-1404 about getting an in-home power supply replacement. This is a known issue with some plasma displays. Some of you would experience a loud pop and then the power supply fails. You get a red light below the ON button, when you press on, the red light will turn green for a second and then back to red. The plasma display will not turn on after the power supply fails. Call Pioneer at 1-800-421-1404.
