Updated recently Continuity: When Harry is entering the book shop where Lockheart is, his hair is messily across his forehead. When it comes time for Lockheart to recognize him, his bangs magically part to show his scar.
Updated recently Deliberate "mistake": When Harry and Ron finally get to Hogwarts, they are flying over a lake. The lake reflects Hogwarts, but not the car, which is closer, and directly over it.
Updated recently Deliberate "mistake": In the scene when Harry first comes to the burrow, there is a shot where Harry is examining the clock. It has Mr. Weasley at quittich, but he comes home from work. Also, it says Mrs. Weasley and Ginny are in the garden, but Ginny comes down from upstairs. Persy is said to be in the garden.
Updated recently Continuity: In the shot when Dobby is punishing himself after agreeing with Harry about not meeting many decent wizards, Dobby begins hitting his head against Harry's drawers. You can see in the upper left corner a piece of clothing hanging out, and in the lower right corner a green piece of clothing. In the next shot, the green clothing is gone, but reappears again in the following shot.
Updated recently Continuity: When Dobby is jumping on Harry's bed after Harry walks in, the bed is messy, but in the next shot when Harry closes the door, you see Dobby standing on the end of the bed, and the bed looks perfect.
Updated recently Continuity: In the shot where Dobby tells Harry he must punish himself, you can see a sweater on the end of the bed, next to where Harry sits. In earlier shots, the end of the bed had no sweater on it.
Updated recently Other: When Ron and Harry are flying into the Whomping Willow Tree, Ron tries to stop the car by banging the steering wheel and yelling stop. His wand breaks, but from the way he was hitting the wheel, it should have snapped the other way.
Mistake Revealing: At the beginning of the scene near the end of the movie with Lucius Malfoy fuming at Dumbledore in his office, Malfoy's hair is fanned back behind his shoulders. The lighting in the room illuminates the back of his neck, where you can see his real, short brown hair.
Mistake Visible crew/equipment: In the dueling scene, when Snape pulls Malfoy back onto his feet, a cameraman is visible on the far left of the screen.
Mistake Revealing: In the Quidditch scene, Harry breaks his right arm and cradles it on his chest, but when he is laying on the ground after he falls off his broom, he then leans directly on it when he sits up to get away from the Bludger. In the shot immediately afterward, he has his hand cradled in front of him again.
Mistake Continuity: When Lockhart falls down the hole into the Chamber of Secrets, we hear him hit the ground a second or two later. When Ron and Harry jump down, not only do they take longer to get down, they also slide down the pipe, rather than fall straight down.
Mistake Continuity: When Myrtle is flooding the girls' bathroom, the tap that later doesn't work (the entrance to the Chamber) is happily churning out water - it's on the side nearest the door, so we see it clearly both times.
Mistake Revealing: During the car flight (on the way to Hogwarts) Harry and Ron are have gone out of control outside Hogwarts. During the scene when the car is approaching the whomping willow the car is massively out of proportion compared to when the car is in the tree.
Mistake Visible crew/equipment: After the car spits them out and the car drives away and they are chasing after it, if you watch closely you can see the shadow of someone driving the car.
Mistake Continuity: When Harry arrives at the Weasley's we see the clock that shows where everyone is. We see the twins' and Ron's picture moving to show they're home, but no-one else's picture is in the same place. Shortly afterwards we see that everyone else is already home, except Mr. Weasley.
Mistake Visible crew/equipment: Rushing to make Hogwarts Express at the train station, the shot opens as the camera pans Ginny's trunk and TWO marks come into view. While Ginny and Mr. Weasley push her trolley, Mr. Weasley (Mark Williams) is cued and begins to say, "10:58, come on, come on!" just as the actor hits his tape MARK on the ground below, while Percy's (Chris Rankin) trolley hits its tape mark, so Harry is visible behind him, and cues Mr. Weasley to continue speaking. In the shot when Mrs. Weasley says, "Okay" for Ginny to go and in the shot as Harry says, "Let's go," their marks are obviously gone. (Visible on DVD fullscreen.)
Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When in the Whomping Willow, Ron asks, "What's happening?" and Harry replies, "I don't know." After a few other shots, in the next two front close-ups of the boys as they scream, Harry, Ron and Hedwig are not alone in the car. A crew member's HAND is quite visible holding the bottom of Hedwig's cage and in the 2nd close-up is actually laying the cage on its side!! (Visible on DVD fullscreen.)
Mistake Visible crew/equipment: In Flourish and Blotts, when Lockhart says "Which, incidentally, is currently celebrating its 27th week atop the Daily Prophet bestseller list," the overhead camera pans up. As the camera passes his feet, Tom Felton's (Draco Malfoy) mark, two long strips of white tape are perfectly visible on the balcony floor where he stands.
Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Harry, Ron, and Hermione are drinking the Polyjuice Potion, Harry leans toward the mirror and starts to gag or something. You can clearly see his shirt is half-unbuttoned. Then they cut away to another shot farther back. Then they cut back to him, and his shirt is buttoned up, nice and neat.
Mistake Continuity: When Ron and Harry are escaping from the spiders in the flying car the passenger's side window that broke earlier hitting the Whomping Willow is not broken, you can see Ron's reflection. A minute later you see that the window is broken again.
