Dell inspiron 1501 laptop keyboard is typing odd numbers and symbols instead of some of the lettters. Examples, the letter "l" comes out "3" . Other letters come out as a back slash, etc. A plug in USB...

Is the Num Lock light lit? This light is the one all the way to the left of several on the computer to the left of the power button (it looks like a padlock with a 9 in the center). The integrated number pad is probably active. Press to toggle this feature off. The Num Lk key is to the right of the various function keys but to the left of the keys labeled Insert and Delete.

I hope this helps.

Jumbled numbers and text

Look for the numlock light somewhere near the keyboard. It's the light with a drawing of a lock with a 9.

If it's lit up. turn it off by pressing the numlock key.

Turning it back on will activate the number keypad (consists of 9-11 keys in the middle of the keyboard). So instead of getting letters, numbers appear.

Hope this is your case. Kindly rate me if the issue got fixed.
