I have the same problem. I have to turn up the volume on my tv to hear the audio, but it's still not clear. When I placed my other dvd player, thinking it might be the cables, which it's not, it works fine - sound is great. Your solution doesn't help. I reset the tv and the phillips dvd player to it's factory settings. Any solutions?

I have no or barely audible sound when I try to play a dvd on my audiovox TV/DVD player. Lots of volume when in satellite TV mode.

I repair electronics at a local thrift store, and I have one with this issue. It seems odd that the laser would be bad since the video comes through beautifully which suggests to me that it is reading the disc well. If I'm able to solve the issue, then I will reply soon.

The volume is on the tv not the dvd player, use the tv remote.

We have a philips up-grader dvd player and get color distortion

I would try hooking something else up to your tv that is hdmi compatible. If your tv looks fine, then you know it would be the dvd player. If it's the dvd player, then I would suggest getting a different brand completely. I have had alot of bad experiences myself and other people as well when it comes to the philips brand

Volume not working

Make sure you have patch cables hooked up from the audio out of the dvd player to audio IN of the Television, using the same named input (Video 1, 2, Fnt, Bck, Aux) that you used for the video in.

Sound

The DVD player has a separate volume control - make sure the DVD player's remote volume is turned up as well as the TV's.

No sound

the DVDS151 has its own built in volume control that is easy to hit the buttons near the bottom of the remote and accidently turn the volume down.
even tho your tv volume is set high it won't pass the sound to the tv if it is on mute or turned down.

No sound thru dvd player, but fine for tv and vcr

Just had the same problem and it is fixed for me. With NO DISC in the player go to the System Menu. Next Navigate to Preferences on the top of the screen.

You will set an option titled "Default". Select that and it seems to reset the player to default settings and fixes the sound.|
