What would cause the broiler element to override the baking element? My oven has lost its mind. It doesn't matter what setting I use, The broil element takes over and burns everything. Please help.

Not 100% sure but my guess. Most electric ovens usually bake with both elements on. The bake element(bottom) is usually on at full power with 240 volts to it. The broil element(top) is usually on at 1/2 power 120 volts to help even out the temperature. My guess is your bottom element is not coming on at all either because it is burned out or something in the control system. So what is happening is the oven is trying to heat to the set temp with only the top element keeping it on much longer than it normally should be on and burning everything. Now if you set the oven for bake and the top is on red hot, you have a control system problem something like a bad selector switch or main control board if the oven has a electronic control.

Whirlpool mod# rf365pxmt top broiler comes on .

This is usually a oven too hot error code. It may be the oven sensor going bad. The control relay stuck. try shuting the power off and resetting it and see if it comes back.

I had the E2 F3 code while I was baking something. Is it safe to eat the food that was in the oven at the time the error occurred?

F3

E2 f3 and locked on my oven, and the heat is coming from the coil on the top of the oven, why is this

e2-f3 meens your oven sensor is bad. if you look in the back wall of the oven you will see a probe a little smaller than a pensil held in by two screws. remove power then the screws and slowley pull the sensor into the oven far enough to unclip the wires. sometimes you have to remove the back to do this then replace the sensor.good luck!

We have a GE gas oven/stove top and the stove top is lighting as well as the broiler but we can not get the oven to heat up. What do you suggest we try?

i just moved and our stove in the new place doesnt bake things right. it seems that the top coil doesnt come on. its very difficult to bake anything. seems to come up to temp for pre heating, but only the bottom coil comes on. If you put it on broil, then the top coil gets hot. that works fine. tired of burning pizzas and biscuits. can anyone help with a cheap fix? dont have alot of cash.

Bake burner (top coil) won't shut off - troubleshoot code shows F3 - E2 - Bake Range Over Temp.

This could be a welded-shut relay. Usually located on the oven control board (ERC/clock). If so, we can repair this for you if you can safely remove and send us the control board. What make/model do you have?

Oven does not heat to proper temperature

1. Do both coils get red hot? Try with bake @ 400F, then with broil to be sure. I recently had a bad lower bake coil, but the oven got hot slowly since the broil top coil comes on periodically to even up the heat in the oven. Replacing the lower coil was easy, about a 15-min job, but I had to pre-tap the screw holes on the coil terminals since my oven had extremely short wires.

2. If the coils are ok, the problem may be with the thermocouple or control board.
