Networking I have an Asante Switche (10/100) conected to a cablemodem with phone from Comcast. Because of the way the ethernet wiring is run in my house I need to add a second Asante Switch. I can't get internet access to the second switch. The two switches are communicating ( I can see the lights flashing on the front of the switch) but I can't get an IP address from the second switch. First switch is no problem and I can get access if I plug the line conecting switch 1 and 2 directly into my laptop, but I can't get an IP address if I plug the laptop into the switch. Can anyone help me?

SOURCE: How do I reset the Asante FS5008 switch to factory

The rest switch is usually located on the back or bottom and will require something small like a tooth pick to press it. Sometimes it is marked reset, sometimes it is not. This can be used if you can't log into it and reset it with the menu settings.

I just got this dynex 4 port ethernet hub and i have comcast wired internet . and i want to hook it up to my xbox 360 and my computer but , it wont let me . when i try to get xbox live it says network...

Hi,

You need a router not a hub or a switch. with the help of the router you can share the comcast cable internet on multiple devices. A hub or a switch can not do this.

Get it replaced with a router. You can buy Linksys or Netgear router.

My Asante FR1004 is not consistent in the wireless signal. When the laptop is plugged directly into the wired ethernet ports the problem does not seem to exist. I use a Macintosh PowerBook Pro and have had...

Most of the problems we see with wireless access points and routers, are other devices nearby on the same wireless channel.
Log into the FR1004 and try changing the channel to another one a few numbers apart. i.e. if it's set to 6 then try 11 or 1. Depending on your country, you may be restricted to certain channels.
Also check if you have a DECT phone station near, and move it away if possible.

Laser writer select 360 to Mac OS X 10.4.11 via AsanteTalk

You should phone the Asante tech support people in San Jose, CA, who will talk you through the fix for free. I lost my printer-MacPro connection, the other day, and everything works fine now, thanks to their advice.

I'm running 10.5.x and no WiFi so the fix may not be the same, but it was just a matter of sort of re-booting the Asante box. Here was my fix, if that helps:
1. Delete that printer from your list of printers in System Preferences.
2. Make sure your computer, printer, and Asante box are all hooked up together and turned on.
3. Click + under the list of printers in System Preferences.
4. Click AppleTalk icon in top row of dialogue box that appears.
5. After a moment, click Bluetooth icon instead.
6. After a moment, unplug the power cord from your Asante box (but not from the electrical outlet).
7. After a moment, re-plug the power cord into your Asante box and, as soon as possible after the "TX" light comes on, click the AppleTalk icon again.
8. Within a few moments, your printer's name should appear. Highlight its name, then make sure all the information about it that appears is correct, then click "Add."
9. Everything should communicate beautifully. I had no further problems.

Installation CD or Drivers

Hi dj,
That hub doesn't require any drivers. You can get the manual here. Second link down, http://www.google.com/search?q=+FriendlyNET+FH10T5+&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&start=10&sa=N
A hub just shares connections between computers. Don't try using it as router.
Good Luck,
