I have had this tv for only 2 years and from time to time the bottom half of the screen blacks out. It seems like if i shut it off while its happening then it doesnt do it as much. This is not an all the time problem, just when it wants too. Any help would be appreciated.

to test all y sub boards remove the main power connection to the y main and turn the tv on if it powers on one of those boards are bad.. remove both sub boards. and plug in the y main. if it powers on then that board is good either, put your multimeter on 2k omh and test the upper ysub boards black connector, the top 2 pins with negative to the 5th pin positive. you should read 500-1k ohm if its way under 100 there is a short.
the bottom ysub board place the multimeters black probe on the bottom 2 pins of the black power conection and the red on the 4th pin.. results are the same.
I am a military spouse and our same tv did the same thing on Super Bowl Sunday 2009! We did everything we know to do: call the company, called the repair man, etc. There apparently isn't a solution to this that wouldn't cost more than the tv is worth. So I got an attorney to start a class action:

hey hello, you have a bad buffer board. some tvs have them on the sides and another tvs have top and bottom of the screen.it should not cost more than $150.00 for the board. i think that's too much.a tech will determine easy and fast the one that is bad. that is a fast repair good luck
Well I have the same problem with green light and no sound and no pix. After i opened it all up i checked the main power supply board and found all fuses good and the 12vdc side of the board dead. My best guess is this power board has many problems. All the driver boards for the screen are located on the perimiter of the screen. If you loose part of the power supply board you will loose part of functions of the tv. At this time i am looking to replace the entire power board. Will let you know the location and fix soon as i find it. jim email@example.com
