Re-Format Pace TDC770D PVR

I am having a problem with the above PVR. I have been told I need to re-format the HD. The cable company tried to have me do this over the phone, but no success. How can I do this?

The advice did not work. I would like to know if there is a way to re-format the Hard Drive.

  • mikeceri Jul 20, 2008

My PVR is a "Pace TDC770D" with a internal hard drive - no external. I have the user guide that came with the unit and there is no mention of formating the HD. Hopefully you can find a way to format this unit.

Didn't work. I'll call the service desk of the cable company. Thanks for the help.

Hi,

I am assuming that you are aware that formatting the internal harddrive would erase all contents. Additionally, formatting would serve no purpose if the hard drive itself is defective.

Hopefully a Motorola procedure would be compatible . To format the hard drive on Passport running on Pace products:
Enter Diagnostics - (these keys must be pressed within two seconds of each other)

  • Power
  • Select
  • Select
Format HDD (from the first page of diagnostics)
  • Repeat
  • LIST
  • LIST
  • LIST
  • LIIVE
Hope this be of initial help/idea and work out for your Pace TDC770D. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Do you mean the TDC775d Tahoe? I couldn't find any information about formatting the hard drive (does it have an internal hard drive?), but here is the user guide, which has some troubleshooting procedures starting on page 35.
If you are using an External hard drive with it, just connect it to your computer to format it. Right click on the drive in explorer and select "format".

...Besides component, optical, and HDMI, the rear panel has a NIC, *****TWO FIREWIRE PORTS, USB*****, and an eSATA port...

Do you have the cable to connect your PVR to your computer? If you not, you will have to buy one in order to format the harddrive.

If you have the connecting cable, let me know.

You can also reset the user settings to the factory defaults.
You use the L, R, U, D and select buttons on either the front panel or the remote control to make the settings. You check and change the settings by looking at your set-top’s front panel. You can also look at the on-screen menus, although please note, in some circumstances these may not be visible.

Hope that helps.........

When using PS3 on RCA D52W19 TV, the screen does not fit ( it is zoomed and off-center) in 1080i resolution.

hello!
Have you tried to toggle "format" or "screen size"? On those sets non HD and HD settings could be adjusted separately. Try that, first. If no luck, try similar settings on PS3. I bet, you will be able to match screen format there, as well. To me it looks, like picture formats are mismatched. Also: try to use "component" cables, instead of DVI adapter cable, if nothing works.
good luck,
Alex.

Make it sure that you have a 1080 signal from your source(eg. HD receiver, bluray player etc.). Try pressing format button on the remote until you get full picture . Or try changing the format or aspect ration in your satellite or cable box.

I have a digital HD package from my cable company and have one HD box I rent and another I just bought from a friend that was originally set up with Comcast, which is a different cable company than I'm...

Each DVR or box that allows you to access anything other than broadcast analog signals (channels 1 thru 100) has to be registered with your cable company. The box has an internal device number similar to the MAC address a wireless PC card might use to connect to a WiFi network. If that number is not registered as a box allowed to be on your account, then it will do nothing at all other than display those numbers you refer to. This is done to prevent you from buying a cable box from somewhere else, instead of renting the one from the cable company. The cable company looses that "rental" money if they allow this. You may be able to contact your cable company to see if they can add that box, and will ask you for numbers on the bottom or back of the box. You may also be required to pay an additional HD charge to have a 2nd HD box in your home, even if you own the box.

The bottom line is to contact the cable company, let them know what you have, and ask what is possible.

Split screen

Yes I get the same problem with my Sony XBR and its Pace PVR.
The problem seems related to using HDMI interconnects; viewing the PVR through component leads allows the TV to switch modes easily, otherwise I have to turn the tv off and then back on again.

this is correct! this tv does not have the ATSC tuner built in. 1080i is a format of the digital broadcast approved by the ATSC. you must have a source of this format to veiw this format. standard cable boxes and satilite boxes altho digital are not outputing HD formats so you need to have the HD boxes to veiw HD 1080i and the broadcasters must be broadcasting HD to get true HD.

Picture problem

I have an older Mitsibutishi 52" HD 1080. I recently upgraded my cable box to DirecTV HDTV. When I change to format to view in 1080 the TV goes from full screen to what seems to be wide screen with a black bar on the top and bottom. If I change the format to 480p I get a full screen; but the picture has a "redish tint" over it as if looking through sunglasses...I tried everything in my TV manual even call the cable company. Any suggestions?
