Question about Dryers

Dryer stopped working in mid-cycle

Is there a reset switch for the Maytag Legacy Series Dryers? This dryer is about 4 years old. I tripped the breakers, and this did not fix the problem. I hear there is a reset switch. I opened the panel on the back of the dryer, near the top where the controls are, but didn't see anything that resembled a possible reset switch. Should I be looking somewhere else?

Thank you.

Okay, thank you. I don't know if that is a job this girl can handle, but I'll find someone who can. :-)

Where would I purchase something like that? Home Depot? Sears? I have no idea. Maybe through Maytag directly? I'll google it.

Thank you very much for your helpful comment.

More than likely a thermal fuse has blown ..i believe on that model you pop the clips holding top down element is on rear wall of dryer thermal fuse has 2 white wires going to it and is mounted on side of element the big thermostat on top and the fuse come in a kit and should be changed together

I have a Maytag Legacy Series and I can't get my lanudry dry. What setting do I need to use to get towels & jenas dry?

Check your venting and make sure it isn't kinked or dirty. The vent is the 4" hose connected on to the back of the dryer. Many times, lint will stop the vent up all the way to the out doors and your dryer will overheat and take a long time to dry the clothes due to limit switches tripping because of excessive heat. Hope this will help you.

I have a Maytag PYG3200AWW and it won't start.

Sounds like a problem with a limit control switch. Some are manual reset and some are automatic . Not sure about yours. They are located of course, in-line within the wiring harness limiting the amount of heat build-up within the machine. If yours had been running with a stopped up, or patially stopped up vent, (and your limit swithch IS AUTO reset,) then the switch could have been cycling the heat numerous times, over that period, preventing overtemperature conditions. This would weaken the switch because it is a safety device and not actually a cycling device. Also, in the vent exhaust, @ the back of the machine there may be a limit switch. And of course, it could always be the start button..........

My dryer has been difficult to start lately especially if stopped mid cycle. The lights are all on but it won't start up. Today I only used it 2 times and it was very difficult to start after pressing many...

You may be experiencing "Heat Retention" by stopping your dryer mid-cycle, which you should NOT ever have to do! If you have a minor vent restriction or if you open the dryer mid-cycle when the heat is on, this will cause a disruption in the airflow and rising temperatures can keep the dryer from restarting until it has been cooled long enough.
Check your vent all the way to the outside for restrictions/obstructions every 6 months. Clean your lint filter after each load and DO NOT stop the dryer mid-cycle!
Note: Stopping the dryer mid-cycle can also cause severe burns and even melt polyester fibers.

Dryer does not start - Thermal Fuse is ok.

Good to know, when the appliance does not start at all is always thermal fuse, wiring, door lock switch, or rarely the control assembly.

Have a nice day.
