It is simple... You will have to go in the Program Files folder, and find the SimCity 4 folder, and then look for the file that you start the game with. This can easily be found by right clicking on the icon that the game created in your start menu or desktop. Click properties and then click Find Target. Now, when you have the file, right click on the file and click properties. Then click on the Compatability tab and click Run this program in compatibility mode for: and choose what you want. Click apply and ok. Then try it...

I have "windows7 Home"

They will work with Windows 7 Professional or higher due to a built in "compatibility mode"

All you need to do is... upgrade to Windows 7 Professional. Right Click on the setup icon for the game. Go to properties. Look for compatibility mode. Run it in windows XP mode

And there ya go :)

I just bought it for my son. We have done the initial set-up and we inserted the game disc but it doesn't play?

Hi..

To play a game on PC, you need to pass few bunch marks.

  1. The Game should be Properly installed and registered.
If the Game is not installed into Computer yet, Please insert the Game Disc. There will a setup file (Installer) to install the game. Many commercial games requires registration before we could play the game.

  2. Your PC must meet the hardware resource requirements for the Game.
Many Games are Resource intensive. Many need extra hardware resources like a Good Graphics card, Physical Memory (RAM) etc.
Many games will specify their minimum hardware configuration required to play the game smoothly, on their Disc Packs.

  3. Your Game and Operating System should be Authentic
If your game disc is not authentic or legal, Operating System will prevent the game from running. The same will do for the Operating Systems also.
So if you got the Disc illegally, you may need to crack or patch it run.

  4. Auto running Feature should be turned on.
Many Operating Systems features Auto Running the Disc. That is, if you put the disc on computer, it will run automatically without any user interactions. If your Current Operating System does not have Auto Running Feature (Many new Operating Systems have this feature and its set to On by default) or its set to disabled mode, you can browse the disc and run it manually.
You can find the executables in the Disc to run the game. Usual Autorun executables have name one of Installer, Autorun, setup.

  5. Your Anti-virus may interrupt the game.
If you have an anti-virus software, then it may interact with the game's normal play and stop it from playing. This is due to the fact that, many Anti-virus Software mistakenly think the game as a virus and stop it from running.
So if you have an anti-virus software, please set it to Game Mode or Disabled Mode

I purchased the mysterious adventures bundle. 16 complete games. it will not install on my windows 7

Go to the web site and find the game and it's description.

There should be a section describing system requirements. See if Win7 is listed/supported.

You can also try these two other options (may or may not help).

1) Try Running the install as Administrator
Right click on the file you want to run (install) and select "Run as Administrator"

2) If it is older software, try running/installing the software in in XP Compatibility Mode
To read about XP compatibility mode:

Go to start menu
Select Help and Support
Type xp compatibility in the search window

Select #2, Make older programs run in this verison of windows

There are instructions on how run the install using compatibility mode.

Your graphics care may not support the game. If you want to play video games on your computer purchase a direct x 9 capable card and you should be able to play your computer games alot better.

Have football manager 2010 it installed fine but wont run!

There are two different versions of the game available for PC and MAC, a 'strawberry' and 'vanilla' version, with both providing half a season of gameplay.
PC
OS: Windows XP/Vista/W7
Processor: XP: 1.4GHz or Faster / Vista/W7 : 2.0GHz or Faster
Supported Processors: Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core, AMD Athlon
Memory: XP: 512MB RAM / Vista/W7: 1.0GB RAM
Hard Drive Space: 2GB
DVD-Drive: 4x Speed
Video Card: 128MB *Supported Chipsets : (see below)
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Directx: Version 9.0c (included)
LAN: TCP/IP compliant
Input: Keyboard, Mouse

*Supported Chipsets - Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 or greater; Intel 82915G/82910GL or greater. Earlier cards may only display 2D Match Viewer Mode and are not supported. Earlier cards may require the DirectX 9.0 SDK is installed to run the game. To download DirectX Software Development Kit click here.

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.

Mac
Intel Processor, OS X 10.5, NVidia Geforce 7300 GT / ATI X1600 Radeon

SOLUTION 1:
1. Right click on the game icon, select Properties and click the tab Compatibility,
2. Select the proper compatibility mode for your PC,
3. Run the game.
This may solve your problem.
SOLUTION 2:
While many different errors and problems may occur while attempting to run a game within Windows (from corruption in graphics and sound to black screens on loading or crashing) the majority can be quite easily fixed with some input from the user. To see General Windows Troubleshooting (for crashes, graphic and sound issues etc) to solve the problem click here.
SOLUTION 3:
Using Daemon tools software you can mount the game image (virtual drive) and by installing the game you can manage to play. Click here to download Daemon Tools.

I hope this helps you.

You can do 2 things:
1 - try to run them in XP mode  - right click on its icon, then Properties, then Compatibility, check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and select Windows XP in the drop down menu and finally at the bottom of the compatibility tab, check 'Run this program as administrator'.
2 - install http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ , configure it and in it install XP and all the soft with problems, starting with the games.

I have it almost installed but before i can play the game my screen changes resloution and magnifies my windows then i get an alert box telling me that the organ trail game cant be installed then it closes...

Ahh i see.... Starting with windows 2000/XP. Windows no longer supports DOS... Im kinda sad about that myself D= but it doesnt end there for you my friend. Organ trail is a great game.

My tip is for you to get a program called DOS box from source forge. Simple google DOS BOX. Install the program and run the program from within dosbox. If you dont know how to run dos box simply drag the EXE you are trying to run into the window. Give it a try and it will work trust me. GL in the game....
