Unable to play VCD on Sony DVP-FX810

Hi All,

I can play only DVD mp3 and photos on it. But unable to play VCD files with the player though Sony website says it can play VCD/SVCD and Divx files. Please let me know if this problem can be resolved. I have purchased the DVD player in singapore.

Dvd will not play - it always says check disc
the lens unable to read the disk,clean the disc with a soft cloth dipped in a cd cleaner. if it still cant read try to clean the lens as it could be covered by a film of dust.

It will play the following: DVD Video VCD SVCD DVD-R DVD-RW DVD+R DVD+RW CD (Audio) CD-R CD-RW Picture CD DVD+R DL DVD-VR as well as MP3 and JPEG file formats. Hope this helps.

there should be a code book that comes with the remote which tells you how to "set" your remote to operate a variety of systems..
