If you have a PC, try and swap the keyboard with a friend's to see if the problem is with the hardware (which is my guess).

How do i bypass putting in a password to activate the sound on an acer desktop computer?

press the fn key, next to Ctrl bottom left, and while holding fn
hit the + key (top or on right). That will take it off Mute, and raise the volume every time you hit the + key.

I have two acers, and both work this way.

Happy New Year!

Function key for Rupee symbol in lenovo keyboard?

Maybe you have to Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit key 4 to get the rupee. Or it might be Press and Hold the ALT or CTRL key then hit key 4 to get it.

The key to know which key to Press and Hold is notice the color of the rupee symbol on key 4, then Press and Hold either the FN function key, Alt key or Ctrl that is the same color as the rupee.

My screen on my laptop is broken. Can i plug a monitor into my laptop?

1) connect your external monitor to the laptop and then switch the monitor on
2) boot up the laptop
3) after it has successfully booted, you need to identify which function key toggles the external monitor on/off
4) you should be able to do this by holding down the Fn key and trying each of the F keys in turn, waiting a few seconds after pressing each one
5) begin by holding down "Fn" + "F3", "Fn" + "F4", "Fn" + "F5" etc.

If this doesn't work, it may be worth examining all the keys and look for a small monitor symbol on one of the keys. If you find this symbol, hold down the Fn key and then hit the corresponding key with the monitor symbol.

My friend has a Toshiba A135-S2346 laptop and the screen has gone out. It sounds like it's still loading and what not, but when I try to hook it up to a desktop monitor, I still get nothing.

Hi,
You have hooked up the external desktop monitor BEFORE booting up the laptop I'm assuming? That needs to be done first of all.
Secondly - find a button on your laptop that looks like two small screens or boxes that look like screens. They are probably drawn on top of your number keys (123456789 etc). You should have a button down in your left corner of your keyboard called FN? Hold in that button and press the number key that has the icon of those "screens" or "boxes". This will toggle turning on an external display vs. the internal display or both depending on how many times you press the number key while holding down the FN key.
Please let us know how this works out.
Thanks,
Kaj

I need help with my key board. When I use the letter key the number comes up. Such as I push J and get 1 I push K and get 2 . How do I get back to using yhe letter. Thanks Marion

Marion, I imagine this is on your laptop? You need to turn off Number Lock. On Toshiba Laptops, I am pretty sure you hold down the "FN" key and the hit F11. That should turn off your Number Lock. If you look closely at your keyboard, you will see that J corresponds with 1 and K corresponds with 2 and so on.

Hope this helps! Let me know!

Screen to dark on my toshiba e10 qosmio laptop

Hi

Have you increased the brightness? If memory serves on the Toshiba you should have a "FN" key and on either on of the number keys or the F-keys there should be a little icon that looks like a "sun" and an arrow up, there should also be similar with arrow point down.

Hold down the FN key and at the same time press the sun up arrow key, and it should increase brightness.

Also some laptops have power saving settings where the brightness is turned down to prolong battery life, so check the power saver settings from the control panel.

Hope that helps
