Gateway cordless KR-0401 Keyboard

I'm having a hard time logging into my computer because there seems to be something wrong with the keys. When I try to type in my password, only certain keys are working. The delete and backspace keys aren't working either. They are both typing characters. I've been playing with the keyboard for almost 2 hours and can't seem to figure it out. Please help!!!

I had the same problem. I solved it by pressing the connect button on the back of the keyboard and then pressing the connect button on the wireless connection base. The keyboard and the base will sync up again. Should solve your problem.

Thank you so much!!!! proph37, you solved my problem, I was not pressing the connect button.

For those out there with a cordless Gateway keyboard who are having trouble getting the keyboard to work: First, make sure the batteries are ok, second, press the connect button on the back or side of the keyboard, third, press the connect button on the little black thingy.

have you tried replacing the batteries in your Wireless keyboard? it could be that simple as the wireless may be dieing if there is not enough power to send the information of what your typing.. Try this before you change your configurations in Windows.

Hope this helps,

Keys are hard to use only when my wife is logged on

It sounds to me like her login account is corrupted... possible user based virus or other potentially unwanted program running on her login... download and install "spybot search and destroy" run it on her login and see what the results are....

Gateway model KR-0817 WILL NOT TYPE I HAVE TO USE THE ON SRCEAN TO TYPE

Make sure the keyboard's "tail" is plugged-in to the _keyboard_ slot on the motherboard.

Try the keyboard on another computer, to see if it works at all.

Connect a "known-working" keyboard to your computer, to see if _any_ keyboard works.

Try a keyboard with a USB "tail".

Logitech easycall mouse works but the keyboard will not

I had the same problem. Some keys on the keyboard would work, others not. It seemed to happen after an update to the SetPoint software. I got it fixed! I tried everything and in the end this is what worked:

1. I started the computer and obviously could not log in.
2. My mouse worked, my standby key worked, but no other keys.
3. I used the mouse to activate the on-board keyboard in Vista (left bottom corner).
4. I put in my password and logged in.
5. I opened up an app (Excel in my case) to try to type something in.
6. As soon as I hit a key a Logitech wizard for encrypted communication came up!!! It asked me to press the connect button and then enter a code it displayed (keyboard worked at this point).

From this point on the keyboard worked!!

Note to Logitech.... great job on the extra security... bad job on the implementation... if your wizard runs after a PC is rebooted that has login passowrd protection.... how are the users supposed to log in??
Note: My logitech upgrade hung... with mouse and keyboard becoming unresponsive so I had to do the hard power off... maybe the wizard was meant to run after the upgrade before I had to force a restart, but this is something that should be taken into account as well.

Logitech cordless keyboard erratic after cleaning keys

seems to be that you may have accidentally swept some dirt underneath the keys.
try pressing each key individually in word and narrow down the affected key or keys, then remove the affected keys (using a keyboard key removal tool, or very carefully by hand) and clean underneath the key with a small dry clean brush both under the key and the board section it lay in, then replace the key and type the key again, if that has no luck then try the process again.

hope this helps

Keyboard beeps when any key is pressed

I found out what was wrong in my case. Someone had tampered with the accessibility options

So for anyone with keyboard problem check :
In Windows XP : control panel-> accessibility options -> keyboard : StickyKeys and Filterkeys checkboxes should be unchecked.

In Windows Vista : Ease of access -> Ease of access center -> keyboard : StickyKeys and Filterkeys checkboxes should be unchecked.
