Bring up Device Manager from Control Panel. Then look for "Sound, video, and game controllers" and click on the "+" to expand the list of devices. You should have one listed for your sound device (might be listed as a Codec), so right-click on it and select "Enable".

If this doesn't work, we might have to re-enable them from the BIOS.

Let me know what happens.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

If you enter F8 just before the boot process you may be able to use the restore function otherwise enter the bios as you power on and set USB as 1st boot device.

How do i switch off the internal mike?

When you connect the external mic to the laptop, automatically the internal mic will be disabled. If you are talking about just disabling, you can mute that through sound properties on the right side bottom.

I disabled my mic on my advent 7113 and have lost my volume now,, how do i get it back

It depends on whether you run Windows XP or Vista, but for Vista I can recommend an article on how to fix recording problems in Vista, which also addresses microphone configuration.

Hope this helps.
