Thorens Motor Replacement

I need to know if a motor from a TD145/160 will work in a TD125 MkII. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanx, appreciate you getting back to me. My major concern was with the voltages being the same, the size is almost identical.

All motors generally work the same, and 95% of them have the same power requirements. However, the only issue you might have is in the actual size of the new motor. If you can get it to fit where the old one sat, then your ok. If not, well, then it wont fit.

From what I've seen on the web a motor for your model costs around $400.

Personally I would buy a new turntable.

My thorens TD280mkIV won't spin. I've checked the power supply, 16V is getting to motor. When I hit start switch, motor twitches but doesn't spin. I've oiled motor, but turning spindle still feels...

It seems a bit high 16 volts, most motors run at 12 or lower. Sometimes it says the voltage on it! There's one certain way to check if a dc motor is working. Disconect it an stick a 9 volt battery on it. If it doesn't turn with that it's dead!

Thorens TD 126 MK II Motor Pulley problem

There's either a lot of grease or something in the motor, or the motor control circuit has a fault on it. Try spraying the motor with Servisol Video 40 first. (available from Maplin UK or Radio Shack USA).

HELLO
Right, first off I don't know the deck very well in question....this is more advisory. Have a look on the internet at www.theanalogdept.com and you will find many things regarding THORENS decks including links to other websites. Myself, I own a Thorens TD166mk2.
Judging by your posting it SOUNDS like something needs lubricating - not quite sure what though - all depends on where you had it stored. If it was just put into an attic, remember that heat and cold will affect the deck in loft spaces significantly.
If you have any doubts about looking at the deck yourself, then take it to a reputable hifi dealership for servicing.

Where did you find the Thorens manual?
Is it the mkII one or simply for the TD-145?
Thank you.

Motor replacement

If the motor can physically fit where the replacement motor use to be, then you should be ok. The TD145 and the TD125 share similar power requirements, but I am not sure about the motor size.
