I've tried restarting my computer after it was automatically installed and still no affect. I have windows XP (x64 edition) and I just bought the cam... I really don't want to go back to walmart, that place is worse than hell! Yay for black screens...

I can actually go into the camera and scanners feature in the control panel but it will onl allow me to take snapshots....I just get the same old black screen when trying to use the product as a webcam...taking it back for a refund; I see I am not the only one with this issue with the Phillips SPC110NC...Nice product crappy results.

    ya...same problem

Have just purchased SPC110NC, and Vista plug-n-play installed it, but it does not show in Control Panel. I then downloaded and installed the driver from Philips (no disc in the box). Still no cam recognized. Nothing. Nada. Using a new HP a6500F with Vista. In Yahoo Messenger I get a black screen, but cannot even use the camera in any other application. Add Hardware will not let me install it - won't give me the option. This bites.

SOURCE: Philips Webcam SPC110NC black screen

I had the same problem... unhook the webcam, uninstall the drivers & rehook it up & let it install them again & go to Philips website & download the update & reboot computer. Works great!

How do I get my webcam working with AIM / Yahoo / Live Messenger / Skype?

In order to get the SPC110NC working with AIM / Yahoo / Windows Live Messenger / Skype you need to download a driver.
Please download the driver for your operating system and follow the instructions supplied:

Windows XP
http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/spc110nc_27/spc110nc_27_dxp_eng.zip

Windows Vista
http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/spc110nc_27/spc110nc_27_dwv_eng.zip

_________________________________________________________________________

install the driver after you download it.

Then go to the device manager
(right-click "Computer", then click "Manage", select "Device Manager")
Then browse for the webcam in the tree menu to the right of the window.
Right click the webcam entry and click "Update Driver".

After that you should be good to go!

Let me know if you need any further help.

Good Luck,
Simon

Philips web cam spc110nc

Philips Webcam SPC110NC doesnt work with Yahoo Messenger as advertised. Packaging says it works with MSN/Yahoo/AIM, but when troubleshooting Yahoo IM using AMCAP.EXE (as per the Yahoo webcam help site), it shows color space/compression used by this product is MJPG and this is the only option. Yahoo IM only supports RGB 24, I420, or IYUV.

Philips SPC110NC/27 webcam doesn't work with any chat service.. skype yahoo..

Guys I got one (SPC110NC ) today and it behaved as follows

1. Plug and play .. so windows XP (SP2) recognised it instantly.
2. images were recorded from the general webcam application (defaalu XP one ).
3. Skype however gave the error that was somewhat like " Skype cannot access ur webcam etc ..."

Apparently for Skype 3 and higher u need a special driver .. which u can get at

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=US&slg=AEN&cat=PC_CAMERAS_CA&sct=WEBCAMS_SU&session=20080804034458_66.249.71.24&grp=PC_PRODUCTS_GR&ctn=SPC110NC/27&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software

The user manual doesnot specify the exact url of the drivers , though it specifies the need of installing them.

Get the driver , install it and skype hopefully will work fine. it worked for me after this 30 min exercise ...
