There are two ic's and you can replace it yourself if you are good in soldering. If not, have a tech replace them.

After being on for about 3-5 minutes, the blue convergence goes way out of alignment. I would like to fix it myself if I can get instructions. Can you help?

The convergence ICs are ready to fail. Replace both convergence ICs and check the low ohm resistors as they will most likley need replacement also. You can get the PT47WX52 convergence repair kit which fits your model from www.tvrepairworld.com whch has the ICs, Resistors, heat sink paste and the CD with repair instructions.

try replaceing the two STK392-560 ICs and also check the six pico fuses on the D board right next to the ICs and then also check to two IC links on the G board as they can often be blown when the ICs fail.

Panasonic (PT-56HX41PF) rear-projection tv with no picture

The three blinks indicates a convergence IC fault. The convergence ICs must be replaced with the manufacturer replacement part. Use only the original replacement part. Your set uses STK392-110 convergence ICs.
These ICs are mounted on a large heat sink. Yes, you can replace it yourself and save few hundred bucks. But you must be knowledgeable enough on how to solder, resolder and use a multimeter.
You will need:
  1. Convergence ICs
  2. Heat sink grease or thermal compound
  3. Soldering iron
  4. Solder lead.
  5. Digital multimeter
  6. Solder pump
  7. Small side cutter
Feel free to inform me if you decide to replace the ICs yourself

Replace ICs on Sony CRT

Since the IC's need to be unsoldered from the board you should have a professional servicer do it for you, there is always a chance of lifting a solder trace. If that occurs then you will have major problems.

Did you replace the convergence ICs? The 4.7 ohm 1/2wwatt resistors and the pico fuses? Let me know and I will assist you, as often sonys will blow the 3.5 pico and a few of the 4.7 ohm 1/2watt resistors when the Ics fail.

Convergence

This is a problem with the convergence circuit. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. First try resoldering the pins on the convergence ICs. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the ICs. These are large black ICs attached to a heatsink and should be marked STKxxx. FIgure on $25 each for the ICs.

Save yourself some money. The typical parts are the convergence ICs. Replacing the ICs will retain the particular adjustment values for your set and avoid a complete convergence adjustment. Look for the large black ICs on the board. They should be STKxxx. Try resoldering the pins first. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the ICs being sure to use plenty of heatsink compound between the ICs and the heatsink.
