i have the Pentax option M20 Digital Camera which just won't turn on. it was performing perfectly well but now it just won't start. I've done all kinds of things : re-formatted the card; waited hours before re-starting; pressed various buttons on the camera when starting...

here's another strange thing - if i keep the playback mode button pressed before i hit the power button and then keeping the play button pressed, i turn on the camera, it does go into playback mode. but it just won't switch into camera mode.

    there's probably a software solution...

    thanks, sanjay

My Optio M20 has the same problem when turning on - playback mode works but not the camera. also when holding down the menu button when turning on the camera displays the software verion 1.0 and the lens marginally extends then retracts continuously and only stops when the batteries are taken ouy

I can get it to playback by holding down play/power but when I try to go to camera mode it beeps a lot and then shuts down. With the lens sticking out.

Kodak EasyShare Z740 Turns Off Fix

Does your Kodak EasyShare Z740 Turns On Then Turns Off right away?
Does your Kodak EasyShare Z740 Turns Itself Off with new AA batteries in it?

Many of these Kodak EasyShare Z740 cameras that shuts off right away and will not stay on, will actually stay on if you select FAVORITES to view pictures, but just flash back and turn off if set to auto or camera mode. Try this.

If the lens cannot extend, the camera will turn itself off. You can try giving the camera a thump with the heel of your hand, but I would recommend servicing the camera rather than smashing a delicate digital instrument. After trying the steps below, a last chance alternative that works for some people is to grab and actually PULL the lens out as it tries to extend itself. Again, its delicate; if you can afford it, maybe pay for servicing before hitting and pulling on your camera.

However, before servicing your Kodak Z740 try this fix:

  1. Hold down the Time/Ascending Folder button (the button under OK on the circular panel)
  2. While holding that down, press and hold the ON/OFF button.
  3. The camera may turn itself on and stay on this time, acting normally again.

If this doesn't work for your try this:

  1. Hold down the '>' button (the one that brings you to picture review)
  2. While holding that down, press and hold the ON/OFF button.
  3. The camera may turn itself on and stay on this time, acting normally again.
If that doesn' t work, try again with the 'Trashcan' button, and ON/OFF button.

I hope that helps.

Kodak easyshare c1530 won't turn on after slighty dropped

Hello Doris, You can "GENTLY" try to push the lens slowly back into the camera with the palm of your hand, note I said gently and slowly, do not use force !!! Then turn on camera and see if this helped, if not it is repair time.

Had the same problem. The problem is a small button cell that needs to be replaced. From Canon's support page:

My camera wont stay on it bleeps once then turns off

That sounds like your battery could be dead/not hold a charge. If you've charged your battery already and your camera still won't stay off and turns off right away, it's time to purchase a new battery for your Samsung TL105.

You can purchase replacement batteries quite cheap here:

SELF TIMER Z760

Here's how it works.

Press the Menu button. (Some settings are unavailable in some modes.)
Press 'up arrow' or 'down arrow' to get to the 'Self Timer' option which looks like moz-screenshot.jpga clock set at 10 minutes to 10.
Press the OK button.
Press the Menu button to exit the menu.
(This setting will stay until you take a picture or turn the mode dial).

Good Luck
